In Buste ailé en profil (Sphinx), created around 1898, Odilon Redon presents one of his most enigmatic and lyrical visions: a winged female bust depicted in profile, her gaze turned inward, suspended in a softly diffused, otherworldly space. Executed in pastel, the medium Redon came to favor in his mature years, the work reflects a masterful control of color, texture, and emotional resonance. The female figure is at once ethereal and monumental, a serene presence embodying both human grace and mythological mystery. Her wings are rendered with delicate transparency, evoking angelic or dreamlike qualities rather than physical force. The background, a luminous blend of warm and cool tones, enhances the sense of timelessness and detachment from earthly concerns.

This sphinx-like figure continues Redon’s deep engagement with the Symbolist ethos, which prioritized the inner, spiritual reality over literal or narrative depiction. The work invites contemplation rather than explanation. Instead of portraying a literal mythological sphinx, Redon abstracts the motif into an allegorical presence. The being hovers between states of animal and human, seen and imagined, ancient and eternal. The use of profile suggests classical portraiture or funerary sculpture, yet the soft rendering dissolves these references into reverie.

Created at a pivotal moment in Redon’s career, when he had moved beyond his earlier charcoal drawings and lithographs into the luminous world of color, Buste ailé en profil reveals his mature Symbolist vision. It reflects not only a shift in medium but also a transformation in mood and subject matter. Color becomes a spiritual force, gently illuminating the figure without fully defining it, allowing ambiguity and emotion to dominate.

The subject also reflects Redon’s enduring interest in mythology, mysticism, and the subconscious. By removing narrative cues and placing the figure in an undefined space, he encourages the viewer to engage in a quiet, introspective dialogue. The sphinx, traditionally a bearer of riddles and secrets, is reimagined here as a symbol of inward vision and poetic mystery.

Enmaniguada constructs a sound world that resists linear time. Pulses rise and fall like breath, inviting listeners into a trance-like space where ancestral knowledge collides with speculative futures. There is a tactile quality to her mixing: textures crackle and shimmer, low frequencies stir like distant thunder, and melodic fragments emerge like fading dreams before dissolving into silence.

The Story of Garuḍodayaḥ — The Rise of Garuḍa

In the ancient folds of time, when the world was still woven with divine whispers, the great bird Garuḍa was born of Vinatā, mother of celestial beings, and the sage Kashyapa. From the moment of his birth, his wings carried the radiance of the sun, and his gaze burned with the fire of destiny.

Yet Garuḍa’s life was not born free. His mother Vinatā had fallen into bondage, enslaved by her sister Kadru, and the weight of that injustice rested upon him. To liberate her, Garuḍa faced a trial set by the serpents: he must bring them the elixir of immortality, Amṛta, guarded by the gods themselves.

With unshakable courage, Garuḍa spread his wings, vast enough to eclipse the heavens, and soared beyond the realms of men, piercing through storms, winds, and blazing fires. Neither gods nor demons could halt his flight, for he was guided by dharma, the sacred law of freedom and truth.

When he reached the celestial abode, Garuḍa battled fiercely, his wings scattering the armies of heaven like leaves in a storm. At last, with his strength unbroken, he seized the vessel of Amṛta. Yet he did not drink from it, for his quest was not for himself but for his mother’s release.

Moved by his purity and selflessness, the great god Viṣṇu appeared. He granted Garuḍa eternal strength, immortality without the nectar, and made him his eternal mount — the bearer of the divine, the bridge between heaven and earth.

Thus rose Garuḍodayaḥ — not merely the rising of a mighty bird, but the ascent of the spirit through sacrifice, devotion, and the fearless pursuit of freedom. His flight became a symbol of liberation, of breaking chains with courage, and of rising above darkness to serve the light.

When K2WO took over the Shala Playgrounded Stage, the atmosphere turned smoky and delicious, like stepping into a vibrant temple of sound. Carpets underfoot, shadows dancing in the haze, and a mysterious glow wrapped the crowd in a sexy, playful energy !  With bassy, sassy grooves guiding the night, the music became a living pulse—delightful, daring, and irresistibly vibrant.

I played the first set of the evening of our last Flanieren at club In Transformation formerly known as Kapitel in my hometown Bern/Switzerland. The club will unfortunately close its doors forever. due to lack of financial support from the city of Bern. It's a sad thing and many, many memories of my last 14 years are linked to this place, where I have played a lot, listened to uncountable many Djs, made many many wonderful friends. The owners of the club are souls of gold and their wish for diversity, in every sense, was always present. Their love and passion for music outside of the mainstream is indefinite and I discovered a lot through them, just because they made it possible. Thank You Diego, Mali, Dino for all the work you put into this now sadly lost treasure.

As I mainly play ambient sets nowadays, I did not want to put me under the pressure of finding all new sounds just for one night. But as I have thousands of songs in my library, I picked some I played a lot and some I never played but love a lot. Of course, the list of favourite tracks is multiple times larger than it could be for a set of one and a half hour.. 🙃

Thank you In Transformation. it was truly an honour and you'll stay forever in my heart! ❤️
