The debut release from the Dama Dama label comes from co-founder Pedestrian in the shape of "Circadian Rhythms” - a 4 track concept EP. Each track represents a different time of day throughout the 24 hour cycle, with the 12” divided into a “Day Side” and a “Night Side”.

The day begins with “Simple Minded At Dawn”, a sleepy, beat-less meditation constructed of heavily processed electric pianos and cellos, and then moves onto the hazy summer’s afternoon cut of “Deep In Daylight”. Flip it over and day turns into night where things start to get a little deeper and darker with “Torn Blue”, a peak time dance floor number which steadily builds in intensity and crescendos into “JNT". A 4am 2-step roller, the EP’s closing number is a collaboration with label co-founders Maribou State which works its way into a climax of looping African vocals, synths and strings before breaking into a blissful wind down where “Simple Minded At Dawn” starts fading back in, emphasising the cyclical nature of night turning into day and prompting the listener to flip it once again and repeat the process.

Up next we have ‘Nightlife Blues’, the second single taken from North Down’s fantastically collective forthcoming EP, Dad’s Old Tapes. 
 
Nightlife Blues continues on the same collaborative path that’s so vital to the North Downs sound. Keen ears will pick out the wonderful power of Andreya Triana’s vocals as well as heavy involvement from long-term collaborators, Maribou State. 

Paired with the digital release of the new EP, out on the 5th December, we’re releasing 100 limited edition hand stamped 12” vinyl (180g), available to purchase through the Dama Dama Bandcamp. 

For those who are new to North Downs, the project was born in a run-down barn in the wintery English countryside, the lovechild of a Delta-Blues man and a London raver marrying the sounds of the organic and the synthetic. There’s a wonderful clarity in this unique fusion. It’s genre-blended, but each ingredient works independently, fixating you on the journey.
