Ohms Love is Eivind Johansson Vullum’s debut solo LP. 
It consists of a selection of tracks made over a four-year period. Drawing from his experience in field recording, film music composition and club event curation, Eivind sets forth a seamless collection of melodic and meditative beat-free music that stands out yet fits in the rich history of Norwegian ambient music. The form of Vullum’s electronic compositions reflects his background as a sound designer, which has had a strong influence on the dynamics and the narrative elements in his music. Ohms Love will be released on HMD Records Friday March 4th.

Eivind Johansson Vullum (b.1984) is a Norwegian musician, sound designer and DJ. Vullum has since the early 2000s been active in different bands such as the kraut/psych-pop four-piece Sally Suicide. From there, he ventured into a more electronic direction sonically. He was one half of the hardware techno duo Bloksberg, which made a name for itself with its leftfield techno in clubs both inside and outside Norway. As a DJ and promoter, he presented his concept Klubb Kadabra at the club Blå in Oslo for over three years, focusing on promoting local underground DJs.

Vullum holds a BA in Sound Design from the Nordic Institute of Stage and Studio (NISS) and is currently studying Musicology at the University of Oslo. Over the last few years he has worked in sound design and music production for short films and other visual projects such as the interactive installation Speisa –performed at the Ultima contemporary music festival in Oslo– and for the Kube Art Museum in Ålesund. His most recent collaboration has been with the artist Thyra Dragseth.

There seems to be something in the water down in Hastings as a veritable hive of electronic music artists have been busy making beats in ever growing numbers down there, including - Kim Cosmik. 

Kim’s debut on 20/20 Vision is an impressive and highly original mix of techno, electro, broken beats and industrial sounds destined to destroy the dance floor. Although overall the record is abrasive, hard hitting and takes no prisoners - beneath the surface in tracks like ‘Drifting’ we also find nuances of emotional musicality that shed vast streams of light on the proceedings. 

The record does indeed kick off with intent though with ‘Night Flight’ - a blistering techno workout that would resonate magnificently in the mighty Berghain hall. There’s no holding back the menacing bass line, fortified tough jacking groove on this one as strong synth lines and strings embellish and complete the soundscape. Over to ‘Ore’ which cranks up the gears into an industrial techno slammer packed with abstract outer-planet sound design finished off with pounding overdriven drums programmed with military precision. 

On the flip side is a gem called ‘Nocturnal’- this is the cut that first really caught out attention at 20/20 Vision with it’s merciless industrial dubstep kick drums and brutal precision. It’s a simple, stripped back workout held in place beautifully by a discordant string - there’s just no escaping this fierce ruling diva. Not for the faint hearted but those who dare will be rewarded.

Kim’s final track ‘Drifting’ is the jewel in the crown that provides the light after the storm. It’s a blissful, cosmic, jazz fused musical tapestry driven by break beats, while compassionate strings infused with Kim's own vocal harmonies and subtle piano motifs glisten and glide over the track adding soothing layers of harmonious quality. Drifting is the perfect close to a truly stunning debut EP.

Exactly one year after his 2021 release entitled 'The Electro Manifesto', DVS NME returns with a collection of new tracks that were produced between late 2021 and early 2022. This 25-track album is another thematic nod to class struggle with the hope to stir class consciousness in listeners. Every song title makes reference to some tenant of the destructive and unequal economic system called capitalism as well as its ever-looming shadow socialism. Even the album cover borrows inspiration from Soviet-era propaganda, re-adapting the artistic styles of many communist agitators.

This album, as with the last, relies heavily on the sounds of classic Electro machines like Mono/Poly, MS-20, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106, SH-2, System 100, Juno 60, JX-3P, TB-303, Polysix, TR-606, OB-8, TR-808, ARP Odyssey, as well as some contemporary additions to his studio like Hydrasynth, System 8, MC-101, Prophet Rev2, Novation Peak, Minilogue, SE-02, and Microkorg.

The collaboration continues between Simona Faraone's label, New Interplanetary Melodies, and Gianluca Pernafelli from the Roman art collective Kuro Jam, which has given birth to Kimera Mendax 1 (2020) and Kimera Mendax 2 (2021), two compilations of experimental electronic music with Techno/Electro/Ambient sounds that served as soundtrack to the sci-fi comic book saga of the same name, both released in limited editions on vinyl, with two carefully curated graphic designs by the skilful hands of Kuro's artists.
Starting next 9 December, both works will also be available in digital version, on all major platforms and label's bandcamp page, with the addition of a bonus track, Rising Tide, 10 minutes of pure electro of Drexciyan elegance, signed by Roman producer T/ERROR, anticipating the next co-production between New Interplanetary Melodies and Kuro Jam Recordings (NIMKuroJam003), Data Surfer, an EP of 6 tracks + 3 bonus digital tracks, made by the artist himself, scheduled for next year.

About Kimera Mendax graphic novel :
Kimera Mendax is the title of the debut graphic novel (2017)  of the team Kuro Jam, composed by the artists Enrico Carnevale (Inkiostro, Markosia), Mattia De Iulis (Marvel), Giulia D'Ottavi (Manfont), Stefano Garau (Editions Glénat, Mondadori), and by the screenwriter Gianluca Pernafelli. The comic tells the story of a group of rebels who, from the underground of an esoteric Rome of the future (2048), struggle to neutralize the KX bio-operative system, a sort of invasive and all-encompassing social network, to which humanity is connected through robotic appendages. Vinyl records are the instrument of struggle for the “disconnected”: they try using music to awaken the natural human vibrations, atrophied by the massive use of technology. The final battle is a spectacular and liberating “sonic tsunami” in the heart of the Eternal City, a journey for the eyes... and the ears!
