Actual bass is from Waldorf Microwave.

The bass instrument itself is some kind of vox, not sure of the name but it's KORG something. Sonic and Tails are looking in disbelief in the thumbnail (or maybe I was just too lazy to make one). Oh also the marimba/xylophone instrument is actually from its source instead of some crappy recreation.

Also it was a total accident I found it, I just thought "huh that sounded kinda like it" and then compared and it sounded spot on, also checked through a spectogram and it came back as a VERY similar image.

Uses original in-game MIDI, arrangement made entirely with C700.

This came about from the incredibly half-baked idea of "what if THIS was arranged to be the Porky's Porkies equivalent of Pokey Means Business's Heavy Section???" 
I keep coming back to this idea, but always give up on it before getting anywhere because I already know the amount of planning, effort, and actual skill that I would need to pull off the 'PMB Heavy Section' arrange of Porkies like I want. The final product is literally never the "Porkies Mean Business" I have in mind.

Even with THIS I wanted to stick with exclusively PMB instruments. However, like most humans I'm obsessed with imitations that are as close as possible, and just ended up making the equivalent of a soundfont cover. Fuck off

At least this "attempt" bore some kind of fruit. It turned out pretty good, actually. In particular, the Rock Organ sounds great with these settings for the FIR Filter.
Like I alluded to earlier, I ended up importing the Rock organ, ride cymbal, a tom, and the Franky guitar, but for whatever reason couldn't bring myself to import the Crash Cymbal.

I was expecting translation to be a lot more of a headache, but to my immense satisfaction it ended up being rather streamlined. I was even able to *add* in new notes (to recreate the power chords) because of how the channels were originally handled. 
The trumpet and sax channels were barren outside of the two places you hear them for, and the intro trumpets were their own separate channels. I only needed to bring their notes over to 3 of the original channels and do stuff with the Events. Plus, thanks to BRSO Articulate I could use the already differing note colors to my strah-TEE-jik ad-VAN-tejj.
Rearranging the percussion was probably about the same amount of trouble, and for the most part it's because of the "cymbal" overlapping with other things. Of course because I just ended up using the Noise as a shitty stand-in it's not as big of a deal.

I like how, because I used the default hat in some places and included the Franky guitar, it ended up sounding more like EB. Not to mention, by coincidence the patches I chose for the brass are the same as the original Runaway Five songs'. Originally I went with them because I (rather hypocritically) didn't want to import too many new sounds.

Heard this tune in an AVGN ytpmv a couple years back. Finally committed to doing my own cover. I think it sounds pretty $wædʒ.

The first step was I wrote it for Solo Piano in MuseScore. Since the method for reference wasn't quite as 1:1 as it'd be working in just FL, though, the melody's structure ended up messing with me. I ended up un-syncopating the bass, then from there added extraneous notes to the melody and a fifth beat to the 1st section's last bar. I couldn't even tell I'd made that mistake until like a month later (this week) when I imported the sequence into FL.
Also, the 2nd run of the B section is my recollection of the melody from before I started making the cover. Because even though it's mistaken I love that "C-B partial, leap to A-C partial" phrase to death.

For the 1st section I took inspiration from pipca's recent mm9 "Castle of Evil" SS cover and gave the harm-hi a panning LFO. Can't recall if I added a Mar2-lo before or after that, but I gave that a panning LFO as well. To give it more of a mystical effect though I made it a slower speed. 
When I added the oboe for the 2nd section's accompaniment, I had the idea of doubling up the Harm-hi with it. That ended up fleshing out the 1st part's melody a lot. Later, when I added the church organ, its release time had a profound effect on how the marimba's echoing sounded, which was a nice li'l happenstance.

Originally, the bass and accompanying Acc-lo both had amplifiers put on them, but eventually I wanted to see what it'd sound like with vanilla Sponge and no effects outside the realm of what you'd hear in the game, and at this point I no longer need them anyway. Still, I wonder what that'd be like now that the full mix is done. I have yet to see.

Toad Town was always a very cozy place. It's fun to talk to all the different residents and get glimpses into their lives throughout your journey.

I haven't made a straight-up Paper Mario cover in a long time, so I thought it would be cool to return to form, so to speak. I reworked the percussion a little bit to be a better fit for NES sound, as the agogo-style percussion of the original wouldn't have translated as well. I still tried to make it fit the spirit of the original.

It also has a lot of arps, as you may have noticed. I'm generally not a fan of very arp-heavy arrangements, but I wanted the original chords to be represented. If I do another Paper Mario cover in the future, I'll try to pick a song that doesn't rely on chords as much.
