We're stoked to release our latest Minirig Mixtape, from none other than Drum and Bass legend Zero T! With a career spanning over 20 years since his first release, Irishman Cian McCann has solidified his name through both his own releases, as well as collaborations with the likes of Calibre, Alix Perez, Icicle and Noisa over the years. With a 6 track EP forthcoming on Metalheadz on Feb 7th, we're delighted to bring you an hour of dnb goodness... with a cheeky few not-yet-released numbers in there for good measure.

Zero T - Minirig Mixtape

Nominated as one of Reggaeville's best albums of 2019, Origin One's "Deeply Rooted" covered many bases, showing the producers deep love of dub, reggae, dancehall, hip hop and also jungle. Entrenched in the Nottingham soundsystem scene, the influences run deep, none more so than on the jungle infused "Tribute". Enlisting the help of drum & bass legend MC Spyda (known for the anthem "Tarantula" amongst many others) and afro warrior K.O.G, this tune proved very popular with fans, so we thought it only right we give it a proper release with a couple of remixes.

Stepping up first is Metalheadz very own Zero T who gives the track a sparse rolling relick, throwing back to the classic vibe of 90s drum & bass whilst keeping the emotions raw and the drums choppy. Doing the rounds as an exclusive dub for over 6 months has helped buld the demand for this killer remix. Next up, Italian soundboys Sub Alpine get their smoke on for a digital rubadub rework, building a whole new riddim from the ground up and adding their own style.

The highly esteemed Irish duo Zero T & Beta 2 are back on Metalheadz with the 'Exiles EP' - a true, modern-day reproduction of the vintage Metalheadz sound that cemented the labels roots 25 years ago.

Comprising of 6 tracks on the full release, the EP can at times destroy dancefloors with the likes of 'Exiles' and 'Dead Cert', whilst the richly enchanting tones of 'Misdemeanour' and 'Altered Destiny' swiftly serenade the listener at every opportunity. This is a true epitomisation of the definition of a complete package and one that has so far had a strong response from the duo’s peers and heroes within the scene, with a call from Dillinja to Goldie justifiably being the icing on the cake.

With Quarter To Quarter, Amsterdam-based record label The North Quarter delivers its first compilation album: a manifesto and its most ambitious project to date.

The 14 track project features prominent vocalists IAMDDB and Azekel, Bass Music legends Total Science and Break and all the core artists that have made Lenzman’s boutique label the breath of fresh air it is today.

The North Quarter is a collective of artists from around the globe, brought together through a shared love for the authentic. The imprint has become a household name in just a short space of time through ambitious and highly detailed artist projects. With Quarter to Quarter, a compilation of cutting edge Drum & Bass music, the label further solidifies its reputation and unique vision.

Never doing things the fast and easy way, the album was put together and nurtured by A&R and founder Lenzman over the course of 18 months.

Lenzman explains: “Way back when I first got into music, I wanted to share that magic with others. Today that same urge still endures within me. With this album I've tried to bring together a group of artists with whom I have shared values, who have never been brought together in this way, and create a timeless statement of intent."

Irish Drum & Bass veteran Zero T returns to Amsterdam imprint The North Quarter with his “Former Self EP”. Following up from his ambitious multi-genre project “Baby Grand”, Zero T now strips things down to a focused five-track project that manoeuvres through a broad range of styles within Drum & Bass. From his Soulful reinterpretation of Mango x MathMan's “Lonely Night” to the dubbed out weight of “Clash” - with Bristol-based rising producer Myth - this is a well balanced EP that displays Zero T's expansive vision and is a testimony to his growth as a producer and technician.

"I had a number of aims with my second EP for The North Quarter” Zero T explains. “While my first release 'Baby Grand' was an opportunity to explore working in different styles of music and utilising live instrumentation, I wanted this second release to be stripped back to basics: five Drum & Bass tracks that cover the spectrum of what I like within this music. There's two vocal tunes in the classic 'Liquid' style, one tune that could easily be described as Jump Up, a Dub/Jungle influenced track with Myth and finally what I would call a “listening track"; something not necessarily designed for DJs/clubs. If someone wants to know what I stand for, then this release says it all."

The 2017 seminal album from Goldie 'The Journey Man' is about to receive the remix treatment with Goldie himself having invited a host of artists to express their take on his third studio album. Described as Goldie's 'magnum opus' and his legacy LP, this reworks package breathes new life into an already incredible body of work. Drawing in both established names and those dipping outside of the drum & bass sphere, it's given a different dimension with every unique offering.

With names like Digital & Spirit leading the charge, paying homage to the late Spirit's heritage whilst bringing Digital's authority into the mix for 'I Think of You', the standards are already set in that first cut. Later contributions on part 1 come from names like Zero T, Jon Dixon, Phase, Artificial Intelligence, Mako, DieMantle, Mathew Jonson and Subjective (Goldie and James Davidson).

Meanwhile, part 2 draws first for the chaotic tones of Grey Code, juxtaposed by the work of Calibre, then followed by the likes of Jubei, Jon Dixon ft. Mike Banks, DieMantle again (this time with a faster version), Total Science, Dom & Roland, Jay Clarke and Lenzman. From beginning to end, there's an incredible array of talent.

'The Journey Man Remixes' draws for artists who have made their impact on Metalheadz and those who are currently grafting their places within the wider electronic scene, portraying the abundance of influences and tastes of Goldie.

With his first release in 1999, London based Irishman Cian McCann has long since established his place in the scene. From his early days in Dublin with the Bassbin label, to working with the likes of Calibre,4 Hero, Klute, Alix Perez, Icicle and Noisia, he has never stood still. 

2008's Cheap Shots LP for Total Science's CIA Records was a high point, with the lead track "Walk Away" bringing fellow Dubliner Steo to the worlds attention. 

Also a noted remixer, Zero T has retouched artists as diverse as Dillinja, Slam, Goldie, Sabre, Lemon D, Lenzman and Lenny Fontana.

Zero T's discography reflects the diversity that his DJ sets have always shown, ranging from full vocal smoothness to more rolling, dance floor styles. 

You are as likely to find his music on labels like Metalheadz and Shogun as on Soul:r or Signature.

2010 saw two milestones reached. The launch of Footprints; Zero T's own label, and compiling and mixing FABRICLIVE052 for the esteemed London venue.

After a short period away from the scene, 2014 saw the return of Zero T as a producer, remixer and DJ with a Metalheadz debut and a spate of collaborations with the legendary Fierce on the highly regarded Quarantine.

2015 saw the long awaited sophomore album, this time coming on Dispatch Recordings, entitled "Golden Section”, along with a glut of appearances on Shogun Audio, Soul:r, Fokuz and Spearhead.

2016/17 saw more releases on Quarantine, Metalheadz, Integral, Spearhead and Horizons, along with plenty of remixes for the likes of Lenzman, Noisia, Gerra + Stone, SATL and many more. 

The last number of years have also seen Zero T touring extensively in the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

2018 saw the release of the third Zero T album ‘Little Pieces’ on Dispatch Recordings, featuring guest appearances from Steo, DRS, Stamina, Villem and Beta 2. He also released an EP on Lenzman’s label The North Quarter entitled "Baby Grand", collaborated with Phase on Metalheadz and GLXY Shogun Audio and delivered another batch of remixes for Metalheadz, Dispatch and several other labels. 

2019 brought a debut solo 12" on 31 Recordings, a remix of Goldie, an extended EP with Beta 2 on Metalheadz, an EP with Steo on Integral, appearances on both V Recordings and Metalheadz 25 year anniversary LP's and much more!

2020 highlights included another EP on The North Quarter, a debut on Sofa Sound Bristol and the usual raft of remixes and guest appearances.
