Νotowns started as a duet based in Athens and Piraeus in 2021, a remedy for quarantine boredom and disorientation, but soon emerged into a 3-piece band and a highly addictive bad habit.

With a love for dystopian forecasting, black humour and awkward dance moves, they come up with a plan to dance the chaos away. 
Their sound - a rough mix of dysfunctional post punk and neurotic disco - is inspired by abandoned
supermarket trolleys, sunbaked rooftops, screaming alarm clocks and deformed waiting queues. 
With a luxurious but overlooked past in the local punk scene, the Notowns idiosyncrasy is rooted in the diy ethics,
which is clearly evident in the way they write and record their songs, design their covers and videos.

Their debut album Joyride, self recorded, mixed and produced, consists of a strong dose of hard-hitting drum machines,
face melting basslines and guitars, with a pinch of analog synth elements and vitriol lyrics on top.

Joyride is out on LP and Digital in April 2023 via Inner Ear.

Οι Notowns ξεκίνησαν ως ντουέτο με έδρα την Αθήνα και τον Πειραιά το 2021, περισσότερο σαν ένα αντίδοτο για την πλήξη και τον αποπροσανατολισμό της καραντίνας. Σύντομα όμως εξελίχθηκαν σε ένα συγκρότημα τριών μελών και σε μια πολύ εθιστική κακή συνήθεια.

Με αγάπη για τις δυστοπικές προβλέψεις, το μαύρο χιούμορ και τις αμήχανες χορευτικές κινήσεις, σκέφτηκαν ένα πλάνο για να ξεφύγουν από το χάος.
Ο ήχος τους - ένας συνδυασμός δυσλειτουργικού post punk και νευρωτικής ντίσκο - είναι εμπνευσμένος από εγκαταλελειμμένα καρότσια σούπερ μάρκετ, ηλιοκαμένες ταράτσες, ξυπνητήρια που ουρλιάζουν και παραμορφωμένες ουρές αναμονής.
Με ένα πλούσιο αλλά αγνοούμενο παρελθόν στην τοπική πανκ σκηνή, η ιδιοσυγκρασία των
Notowns έχει τις ρίζες της στο DIY, κάτι που φαίνεται ξεκάθαρα στον τρόπο που γράφουν και ηχογραφούν τα τραγούδια τους, σχεδιάζουν τα εξώφυλλα και τα βίντεό τους.

Το ντεμπούτο album τους Joyride, στο οποίο έχουν κάνει οι ίδιοι τις ηχογραφήσεις, την μίξη και
την παραγωγή, αποτελείται από μια γερή δόση επιθετικών drum machines, ισοπεδωτικές
μπασογραμμές και κιθάρες, μια πρέζα από αναλογικά synth στοιχεία και όλα αυτά με μια
γαρνιτούρα βιτριολικών στίχων.

The acclaimed NYC producer BLOCKHEAD is teaming up with Long Beach’s YPPAH and Boston’s ARMS AND SLEEPERS for a full North American tour this fall. To celebrate the occasion, Future Archive Recordings is thrilled to present a joint release between the three artists titled 'Hermit Kingdom: Remixes'. With each artist remixing one track from the other two artists, this 6-song EP will offer an eclectic mix of reenvisioned material, exploring the electronic music spectrum without restraint. Blending hip-hop, shoegaze, jazz, downtempo, and psychedelic influences, among others, 'Hermit Kingdom: Remixes' manages to stand as a cohesive whole rather than as just another collection of remixes. While there are obvious common threads among the three artists, each brings a unique perspective on electronic music that shines in conjunction with the original material being remixed.

Tony Simon, aka Blockhead, has been making and releasing utterly distinctive, funky and emotive music for the last two decades. Formerly signed to Ninja Tune, Blockhead’s most recent album ‘Funeral Balloons’ was released in September 2017 via Backwoodz Studioz.

Yppah (born Joe Corrales Jr.) has forged a career marked by ethereality and dynamism, brought up on equal parts My Bloody Valentine and hip-hop. His 2015 album ‘Tiny Pause’ was released courtesy of Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records.

The electronic music duo Mirza Ramic and Max Lewis have been actively releasing music and touring worldwide as Arms and Sleepers since 2006. Their latest album ‘Find The Right Place’ was released via Pelagic Records in April 2018.
