HHH label is a series of releases coming from a musical research and visual residency called Hitchhiker.

The idea of HHH is simple: to invite an artist for a road trip by car, van or camping car, to produce music.
It's a great excuse to look for and create new forms with the guest artist.
Each artist is invited to make field recordings during the trip in order to compose tracks. For this one, the travel was between the pays de Loire and Bretagne .

Gorgeous ambient dream, dub-inflected techno and new-beat forms from Soft Verse head honcho Lewis Thompson aka Real Terms. A pivotal member of the Newcastle underground community through his labels output and his creative work as Mick McCarthy, singing in New Horror and grinding out filthy hardcore in Sod. 

Some Ruins is a departure from previous Real Terms releases, an introversion toward stranger pastures. '1051 Significance' opens with stratospheric builds of ambience smothering over a deep 808 bloop. 'Tudor Rose' is a torturously poised slow techno throbber never dropping its guard, instead gathering weight and cold stare intensity. 'Small Towns & Built Up Areas' is perhaps the most familiar sounding from this Real Terms set, amped up New Beat chest slapping struck through with feedback squealing away into a hard drive sitting on your lap. It's sparkling Balearic ending slipping us a heavy cocktail into '40', a bizarro triptych encapsulating hot house 808-blips, M. Monk like vocal chop-up pan parties and digi-dub spaciousness. 

Killer album from Real Terms. On speaking with him just 18 hours before writing this he said "I'll never return to that sort of style again". 

Shame.

The album's concept unfolds on the narrative identity and the postulates of Paul Ricoeur, where he says life is narrated, examined and retaken because we are narrated stories of the past and present. This involves the actual concept of historicity, understood as the capacity that history, like a ‘singular collective’ , has to give a satisfactory response to the aporia of past, present and future fragmentation. 

"Narrative" is divided into two parts: past and future, where a journey through childhood to adulthood is glimpsed. Identity could be said to be the story of an individual, evolving inner life, integrating a reconstructed past and an imagined future in order to provide life with some degree of unity and purpose. On the relationship between life stories and the adaptation, that shows that the term "narrators" is multiplied in several meanings; of redeemers from suffering or even adversity, and who construct life stories that present themes of agency and personal exploration. They also tend to enjoy the highest levels of mental health, well-being and maturity. 

It could be said that this work it's a development of narrative identity from the origins from young children to the articulation of sophisticated strategies in personal stories told in adolescence to the emerging years of adulthood, where feelings are mixed and wrapped in a poetic conflict between emotions-machines and organic echoes.

American avant-electronic musician and essayist Bret Schneider holds no institutional allegiance to one artistic medium. His background encompasses a wide range of work experiences and reveals a man who is connected to the world around him in complex, alienated ways. His thoughts on music and philosophy are intertwined into a billowing exposition. But when exploring the dark recesses of his more aural works, there is an inherent flexibility. Phasing percussive elements and frayed droning lines all lead to a perpetually shifting feeling for an aural uncanny. As fractured as his music can be, there is a dim spark of rumination that threads through his synthetic machinations.

On his latest release, “Xilinx,” Schneider taps into a primordial electronic noise—the kind that rests just on your periphery, unwinding itself to reveal myriad sordid circuits and disjointed projections. These tracks maintain a wired mania, expressing an unsettling undercurrent of ragged repetition and warbling drones. There’s an unexpected elasticity to Schneider’s cabled rhythms, and they often shift across several temporal lines before turning inward, struggling to illuminate an intimate dissonance or imagine a multi-chambered core. Displaying a raw and unusually concise knowledge of how these sounds might fit together, “Xilinx” is part zoetrope, part post-industrial dreamscape. It is an inquiry into the idea of internal movement, a contorted experiment in musical patterning, and an experiment in self-replication.

Instruments of Discipline is proud to release ‘Cold Lights’, Geodetic’s second EP, the follow up to ‘Broken Consonance’, released on Maple Death Records earlier this year. ‘Cold Lights’ is an avant-garde undertaking that artfully weaves soundscapes that swing between murky industrial atmospheres to moments of uplifting levity, all held together by strong rhythmic grooves, a collage of at times familiar sounds juxtaposed into an altogether unfamiliar whole.
