Cresting the rise of the greatest hill in a land of rolling plains, the young explorer sighed with relief as he had come to the end of his great pilgrimage. It was from here, the legends recalled, that his forebears had first seen their home. Settling amidst the occasional copses of trees that dotted the landscape below and alongside the many streams and brooks that gave the land life, they had shared in the simple delights of existence as they worked the soil under the benevolent gaze of their many gods. To the explorer, such a life had seemed only a mere fantasy for so long. Yet, as he rested atop the hill, the land that was now reclaimed by nature seemed to brim with its promise once more.

In the thousands of years that separated him from the time of the legends, his people had moved on from such humble beginnings, finding their homes first in ever-further corners of the world and later amongst the stars. Along with the other peoples of his world, they had utilized their advanced technology to lead a mass exodus off of the planet and into the many known habitable worlds of the galaxy. In reverence to the world that had first given them shelter amidst the endless cosmos, the peoples of the world had removed all signs of their influence, allowing it to return to its most primal state. Now recognized as a holy planet by all members of the galactic federation of which his people were a part, all people of the explorer’s age were given a year to walk the lands of their ancestral paradise, allowing them to wonder at it’s natural marvels as their ancestors once did and pay homage to the celestial body that had borne forth their civilization. Thus it was that here, atop this legendary hill that yet seemed so insignificant within his full conception of the known universe, that the young explorer was suffused with the divine power that radiated from this ancient world. As he closed his eyes in communion with the planet, his spirit soared above the plains, ran through the underbrush beneath the trees, and flowed freely in harmony with the streams as he experienced a FREEDOM the likes of which he had never felt before. In that moment he knew, in the deepest part of his heart, that this was his home. No matter how far into the universe he would venture during his life, it always would be.

AGRESSOR BUNX return to EATBRAIN with FREEDOM, an EP which follows in the wake of their massive 2021 album ENSUING CATACLYSM. Amidst their characteristic complement of devastating neurofunk, FREEDOM’s title track delivers one of AGRESSOR BUNX’ most melodic compositions to date and imparts an optimistic message upon the ears of the EATBRAIN horde which sees the duo make space for a moment of reflection as they continue to lead the label’s faithful as a pair of EATBRAIN’s most veteran artists.

Long forgotten amidst the cragged slope of a dormant volcano, the ruins of an ancient temple stood firm in silent reverence. A millennia of lava flows had reforged its walls time and time again, warping the structure’s dimensions each time as stone was birthed and culled by the forces that were its primordial progenitor. For thousands of years this cycle had raged at the edges of the temple compound, and yet for thousands of years one singular structure had remained - the great bronze idol of the temple’s forgotten patron deity, untouched by the tongues of raging flame. 

There had been no true supplicants for hundreds of years, and only a scant few visitors had ever braved the rigorous journey along the obsidian-clad spines that lay below the temple even to simply gaze upon its ruined form. Thus it was that when a lone traveler clad in orange robes entered the inner transept of the Temple, his bare feet bloodied from the pilgrimage, the long-smoldering flame of devotion roared to life behind the eyes of the great statue as the volcanic ground quivered expectantly beneath it. With ritual pilgrimage completed by this stranger, a new age could now begin. Under the Gydra’s watchful eye, the lava would run again. 

GYDRA make a triumphant return to EATBRAIN as they reignite the flame of LAVA RUN, delivering a VIP mix of the famed track to delight of the EATBRAIN horde’s eager ears. Meanwhile, label boss JADE unveils JADE VENOM and adapts the serpentine qualities of his new alias to remix GYDRA’s IKRA, perhaps the most storied track within the label’s extensive catalog. Together, the pairing makes for a release of unstoppable power, celebrating all that is EATBRAIN from front to back.

The serpent had waited too long. It slithered along the branches that weren’t real, coiling around bark that pulsed like living flesh. Deep within the core of their sprawling annex, The Institution’s top minds worked diligently at their insidious craft. Their hands moved swiftly, as they worked relentlessly with the sharp tools of their mind; warping words, images, and sounds to fit their malevolent narrative. Their objective was singular, complete control exercised from the shadows, profits reaped from beyond the veil of obscurity. Trust, that most hallowed principle, was nothing to them but a tool of manipulation, exercised to to legitimize their empire. The plan was simple, a classic diversion operated on a massive scale. The creation of an enemy, the eternal outsider, one against whom the public must remain vigilant. Composed of a paradox, the outsider posed no threat, yet could never be vanquished. Instead, his reputation and the shadow of his fearful influence would loom as a spectre, a shade of darkness designed to haunt the masses. Their fear would drive them into the protection of The Institution, shepherded in the manner of livestock. From there, the extension of their complete control would be assured. The machinations of its minds completed, The Institution began its program of domination in full, disseminating its precisely produced PROPAGANDA amongst the public.

Their message was erected upon the walls of their great city, proliferated throughout the mailboxes of its citizens, and across the webpages of it their tightly controlled digital network. Their message spread with viral efficiency. The citizens’ response was sublimely realised, a surge of fear through the populace, shepherding them into the arms of The Institute as they sought security in the face of the threat birthed in pure imagination. Security, The Institution was more than happy to provide; promising strength in the face of the mysterious menace. The Institution’s agents felt the power of their positions strengthen throughout the city, soon holding its highest offices in their grip, putting greater tools of control in their hands. Initiatives were passed, laws enacted, and the vaults of the city drained. The streets were the conduit of their fear, their PROPAGANDA campaign continuing in the fearful whispers of the citizens carrying the fear of The Outsider’s presence. The cycle was set, justification freely given out of fear. The Institute’s diabolic machinations ran as pure as the fear that coursed through the city.

The man pulling the strings behind the revered EATBRAIN imprint, JADE, returns for his second release of the year on his home label with the fiercely executed PROPAGANDA EP, featuring the veteran skills of RIDO. Following on from the much-acclaimed AWAKE EP, Jade powerfully demonstrates that he’s back in the studio and putting his veteran knowledge of what functions on the Eatbrain dancefloor to effective use. Delivering two fresh, tech-infused DnB bangers, along with a faster tempo VIP of fan favourite MAN EATING LIZARD DRAGON, as well as a further strut in the unfolding genre mechanism of slow and meaty neuro in SPY CAR, the PROPAGANDA EP delivers the Eatbrain manifesto in exquisite form.
