BRUTAL HONESTY is a club night series started in 2024 by DJs and artists ulises4000 (@pablo_ulises) and missteikk. They are interested in pushing experimental electronic music in a club culture context and building local as well as international community. 
Brutal Honesty is a controversial topic. Do you really want your vis-à-vis to speak their mind in a brutally honest way? Sharing every unhinged thought? At the same time aren’t we always looking for „the“ truth?

zikade (she/her)

Before her own debut behind the decks, zikade explored electronic music and club communities as a raver for many years. She went on to use those experiences as a key focus in her sets: always dance floor oriented and with the collective moment in mind, zikade’s selection is characterized by a love for hard kicks, rolling beats and trippy melodies. zikade wants her sound to be less connected by genre than by atmosphere: dark but groovy, melancholic but sexy. Based in Berlin, zikade is a resident DJ for the queer collective SLIME, regularly performing at their bi-monthly events and various showcases.

"For this mix I wanted to bring together different sounds and atmospheres, hopefully teasing out a spectrum of emotions. Lately, I have challenged myself to become more eclectic and playful in my sets, something I admire and enjoy a lot when I’m on the dancefloor myself. The mix is a combination of recent record store finds and those records that I pick out often, but almost never play in public. Thanks for having me! :)"

As the strawberry full moon swells overhead tonight, kidcat’s on the decks with a special transmission. 

“This full moon mix is a heartfelt return to my roots — a deep dive into the sounds that first pulled me behind the decks. Blending the music that inspires me today with the raw energy of tracks I started out with, it’s a true full-circle moment.” 

Crafted as a hybrid vinyl and digital set, the mix is a charged blend of dark disco, dub disco, EBM, electro, and industrial textures. It’s deep, it’s sexy, it’s intense.

as little rainbow frogspawn in a big grey pond, we grow into curious tadpoles and leave the NEST to become fabulous, fierce, stunting froggies, walking the runway that is life 💚

Was a super special party, with a lot of friends around. 
Thanks for having me!

The mix begins with raw, urban, and percussive energy, with 90s guettotech and bass, transitioning to classic house with vocals, pianos, and danceable grooves, where I wanted to hook the dancer. From there, I had a desire to delve into more experimental and abstract territory, without losing sight of house music as a feeling. From the middle to the end, the energetic and euphoric vibe returned, ending with a mix of uplifting vocals, Latin grooves, and remixes with a lot of history to bring a smile to the dancefloor.

Beyond the nu skool and the old skool there is the real skool, that is to keep the classic energy alive while updating its sound with very contemporary tracks, and there is where this mix aims to get.

I had the honour of opening the Musikommt vinyl-only lineup in the Black Room floor and warming up the dancefloor for  @therhythmvision and @salvatore-foglia. I'm very grateful for the opportunity and trust to play in this storic club before its closing. 🖤

Cat aka kidcat, is a vinyl DJ and co-founder of the label Pleasure.Patterns, is known for her dynamic blend of genres, ranging from disco and house to progressive house, trance, and groovy techno. She found her creative spark in Berlin’s underground scene, where her passion for DJing flourished. Kidcat thrives on the entire journey of music, from the thrill of digging through crates to unearth hidden gems, to sharing those discoveries on the dance floor and witnessing the pure joy they bring to the crowd.
This mix was captured at the release party for Cosmic Sound by Daniele Baldelli (ELSI). Set in a backyard in Berlin Mitte, friends and community gathered for an intimate evening on a hot July day. The intimate setting gave space for the music to unfold organically, carried by cosmic grooves and disco-tinged rhythms.
