The song is highly inspired by Magic City Hippies, 1975, and Jakub Zytecki.

“Out of old, into new” is the lyrical thesis, I suppose, of what I was feeling when I wrote the lyrics.

“So long to those lies. I’m awake, I’m alone, I guess this place is my home.”
Being alone is hard. Being awake to one’s situation can be difficult. And then the realization that where one ends up in life isn’t the path they set forth so long ago can really shake a person’s foundation. My foundations been shook, but “I stick to my words - I feel like it makes me tough.”

Sometimes, we don't want someone from our past back- we acknowledge that it is over, but from time to time, we can't help but wonder if they ever think about us.
