A broad-based rally led by Consumer Discretionary, Industrials, and Financial sectors propelled this surge.

On a positive note, Bath & Body Works shares were on fire today, outperforming estimates and signaling a healthy retail sector as we approach the holiday season. In contrast, Lockheed Martin stumbled after Elon Musk suggested a shift in military spending priorities.

It seems that lower bond yields worked in favor of D.R. Horton and other homebuilders today, lifting their shares despite high interest rates. However, Oneok shares fell after a hefty $4.3 billion agreement to acquire EnLink Midstream.

Tech was a different story, though, with Nvidia and Meta Platforms tracing lower amid a sector-wide downturn and a shift to more economically sensitive sectors. On the other hand, Arm Holdings took a hit with a 6% dip after releasing a weak Q1 net profit prediction, despite a favorable sector environment.

In cryptocurrency, MicroStrategy had a decent 4% gain as Bitcoin nears that $100,000 psychological mark. Eli Lilly unfortunately didn't share the same luck, dropping 4.3% amidst a sector-wide healthcare rout. Meanwhile, financials had a good day, especially JPMorgan which saw a 1.4% rise, driven by the Federal Reserve outlining its rate outlook.

In option news, McKesson experienced unusual put options activity amid a price drop of 2.8%. Russell 2000 also raised eyebrows with short interest hitting its highest point since 2019. For the tech-watchers, Nvidia made progress, up 1%, with potential easing of AI chip export rules on the horizon.

Luxury goods demonstrated resilience with Tapestry climbing an impressive 8% after issuing robust annual guidance. The cybersecurity company Fortinet however, sank 7.4% off the back of a gloomy Q2 profit forecast, despite exceeding Q1 predictions.
