Ako ay Pilipino (I am a Filipino) is a Filipino pop patriotic song written by George Canseco in 1981, under commission from First Lady Imelda Marcos, and performed by Kuh Ledesma, who has said that it is her favorite song. This version is played during the campaign rallies of BBM-Sara (led by Former Senator Bongbong Marcos, who is running for President of the Philippines, and Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, and UniTeam senatorial slate), who is running for Vice President of the Philippines). It is first heard during the proclamation rally of UniTeam BBM-Sara on February 8, 2022 at the Philippine Arena and sung by Toni Gonzaga (A staunch Marcos-Duterte supporter)who also hosted the event.

Note: Please take not that I am not a BBM-Sara supporter here anyway. I am a proud and staunch supporter of Leni-Kiko Tandem. But I really like the song anyway. The song attributes enduring popularity to the fact that it has a “very positive” and “uplifting” message.

Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. has been using the OPM classic “Umagang Kay Ganda” in his campaign ads and events for months now. It has become a ubiquitous part of his presidential campaign – firing up his supporters and opponents alike.

The chorus of “Umagang kay Ganda” jibes perfectly with Marcos’ decision to focus his campaign on unity. Interestingly, the song was also used by then-House Speaker Jose de Venecia during his unsuccessful presidential campaign in 1998:

Written by Butch Monserrat in 1975 with the English title “Beautiful Morning,” “Umagang Kay Ganda” was originally performed by Tillie Moreno and Ray-An Fuentes in 1979. It was submitted as an entry during that year’s 2nd Metro Manila Popular Music Festival or MetroPop.

Billboard magazine described MetroPop in an article published in 1982 as the “biggest and most prestigious song contest” in the Philippines. It also noted that the annual competition was organized by the Popular Music Foundation of the Philippines, which was led by then-presidential daughter of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and now Senator Imee Marcos.

Speaking to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Monserrat attributed his song’s enduring popularity to the fact that it has a “very positive” and “uplifting” message. Despite the song’s failure to win any of the top three prizes, it went on to become one of the most recognizable Filipino songs ever with at least ten musical acts doing a cover of it including Bamboo, Lea Salonga, and Sarah Geronimo.

Meanwhile, the version of “Umagang Kay Ganda” used in ABS-CBN’s now-defunct eponymously-titled morning show was performed by Imago.

The campaign jingle of Former Senator Bongbong Marcos who currently runs as the President of the Philippines for the 2022 elections.

True to his campaign strategy of reviving the symbols associated with his father, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has played the late dictator’s marching song throughout his campaign.

Ferdinand Marcos Sr. commissioned Felipe Padilla de Leon and Levi Celerio to write and compose “Bagong Pagsilang” or “Bagong Lipunan” in 1973, a year after the dictator declared Martial Law.

The song opens with a drum roll, almost sounding like war drums. It demands the audience to stop and listen. It commands respect.

This time, the son, through a band called Plethora, turns it into a modern rock song.

“Nagtatangkang ihiwalay ang awit sa nakaraang malagim na konteksto nito na nilikha ito sa tangkang buuhing New Society ni Ferdinand Marcos sa loob ng lipunang lugmok sa Batas Militar,” Navarro said.

(The new version attempts to separate the song from its gruesome context, which was written for Ferdinand Marcos’s vision of a New Society within a society helplessly trapped in Martial Law.)

“Binago ang dama, inilapit sa sensibilidad ng mga kasalukuyang tagapakinig ng musika. Naglalapit din ang binagong istilo ng kanta sa target audience ng kampanya, ang kabataan na hindi naranasan ang bagsik ng Batas Militar. Isa na lamang itong nakakaaaliw na kanta para sa isang taong walang alaala ng nakalipas.”

(The tune was changed for the sensibilities of the current listeners of music. The new style also draws in the target audience, which is the youth, who have not experienced the atrocities of Martial Law. It is now but just an entertaining song for a person who has no memory of the past.)

If “Bagong Lipunan” commands respect and discipline, Plethora’s original composition, “Tigre at Agila (Tiger and Eagle),” exudes angst. The electric guitar solo further amplifies the promise of grandeur.

Christine Magpayo, an instructor at the UP Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts, said that the song wants people to remember the symbols of Marcos Jr. and his partner, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The song is also successful in reinforcing the claims of Marcos Jr. and Duterte that they are destined for the highest posts of the land.

“They want the people to remember the metaphor. Tigre and agila, it’s repeated, and the melody is quite repetitive as well, and that makes it sticky,” Magpayo said.

Magpayo said that the lineup of songs played throughout the campaign must also be worth noting. For instance, Toni Gonzaga singing Sia and David Guetta’s “Titanium” conveys Marcos’ strategies.

“The song has lines like ‘Shoot me down, but I won’t fall’ – it’s as if the other candidates are just attacking Marcos Jr. It reinforces their narrative that they are being attacked by opponents,” Magpayo said.

Marcos Jr. also uses the song “Umagang Kay Ganda” by Ray-An Fuentes and Tillie Moreno to add to his vision of a new society. The music video features hypnotizing pinwheels, a reference to the iconic windmills in Ilocos Norte built by a private company but which supporters insist on giving Marcos Jr. credit for.

Bagong Lipunan - UniTeam 2022 Campaign Jingle

Metropolitan Manila (often shortened as Metro Manila; Filipino: Kalakhang Maynila), officially the National Capital Region (NCR; Filipino: Pambansang Punong Rehiyon), is the seat of government and one of three defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines. It is composed of 16 cities: the city of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela, as well as the municipality of Pateros. The region encompasses an area of 619.57 square kilometers (239.22 sq mi) and a population of 13,484,462 as of 2020. It is the second most populous and the most densely populated region of the Philippines. It is also the 9th most populous metropolitan area in Asia and the 5th most populous urban area in the world.

The region is the center of culture, economy, education and government of the Philippines. Designated as a global power city, the region exerts a significant impact on commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, both locally and internationally. It is the home to all embassies in the Philippines, thereby making it an important center for international diplomacy in the country. Its economic power makes the region the country's premier center for finance and commerce. The region accounts for 36% of the gross domestic product(GDP) of the Philippines.

The region was established in 1975 through Presidential Decree No. 824 in response to the needs to sustain the growing population and for the creation for the center of political power and the seat of the government of the Philippines. The Province of Manila, the predecessor entity of the region, is one of the first eight provinces that revolted against the Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines at the end of the 19th century. Manila's role in the Revolution is honored in the flag of the Philippines, where the sun's eight rays symbolize the eight revolutionary provinces.

The NCR Hymn is the official hymn of the National Capital Region. It is was composed by Servillano Padiz, Jr. with lyrics by W.D. Nesbit. It is commonly performed during flag ceremonies in schools and government offices in the region.

Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte (UniTeam BBM-Sara) won the election for president and vice president.

The UniTeam, led by Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte are leading the partial and unofficial count of the presidential and vice presidential race, respectively, based on the data provided by the transparency server of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

As of 12:17 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022, Marcos Jr. leads with 27,052,601 votes (surpassing his father's 18,309,360 votes in 1981) while 84.39 percent of the election returns have been transmitted. He was followed by Vice President Leni Robredo with 12,913,773; and Senator Manny Pacquiao with 2,853,032.

They were followed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno with 1,662,508; Senator Ping Lacson with 796,471; Faisal Mangondato with 160,192 and Ernesto Abella with 93,368.

Bringing up the tailend of the tally were Ka Leody de Guzman with 78,231; Norberto Gonzales with 73,951; and Dr. Jose Montemayor with 50,621.

Aside from the 10 major political parties, others who have access to the Comelec transparency server data are the Kapisanan ng Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), dominant parties, as well as the media.

Meanwhile, Duterte leads with 27,098,199; followed by Senator Kiko Pangilinan with 8,089,754; Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III with 7,212,737 and Doc Willie Ong with 1,665,266.

They were followed by Buhay Partylist representative Lito Atienza with 217,855; Manny Lopez with 125,392; Walden Bello with 82,642; Carlos Serapio with 72,787; and Rizalito David with 45,019.

Bagong Lipunan or Bagong Pagsilang (transl. New Society; New Birth), also known as the March of the New Society (Filipino: Martsa ng Bagong Lipunan), was a Filipino song commissioned during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos that explicitly extols the Bagong Lipunan or New Society movement introduced by Marcos upon the declaration of martial law in 1972. The lyrics were written by Levi Celerio and the music was composed by Felipe Padilla de León in 1973.

The anthem is not to be confused with Awit sa Paglikha ng Bagong Lipunan (Hymn to the Creation of a New Society), which is also known as the Hymn of the New Society (Filipino: Awit ng Bagong Lipunan) and was based on Awit sa Paglikha ng Bagong Pilipinas.

Jose Pimentel Ejercito Jr. (Tagalog: [hoˈse pimenˈtel ɛhɛɹˈsɪtɔ]; born February 17, 1963), also known as Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada,[4] is a Filipino politician, actor & film producer. He is the son of former Philippine President Joseph Estrada. Before serving two terms as a Senator of the Philippines from 2004 to 2016, he served as Vice Mayor of San Juan in 1988. After one term, he was immediately elected as the town's mayor in 1992 and served until 2001. He became acting Senate President of the Philippines in 2013.

In 2014, he was indicted and charged for allegedly stealing ₱183 million from his discretionary funds in a scandal known as the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam. He was jailed until 2016 and was acquitted after posting bail while trial is still ongoing for the multiple charges against him, he sought reelection to the Senate in the 2019 Senate election, but he lost. He ran again in 2022 Senate election and won the seat.

Beyond politics, Estrada also participated in acting; he notably won the "Best Actor Award" in the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival for the film Katas ng Saudi.

In the tune of "Sama-Sama" by Ex Battalion, "Kay Jinggoy Estrada Tayo!" was first released through his video "Trabaho sa Bawat Pilipino" on his YouTube channel and social media accounts. He ran under his father's party, Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, and is part of the UniTeam senatorial slate. He won in the 2022 National and Local Elections, placing 12th with over 14,966,887 votes. He will join his half-brother, Senator JV Ejercito of the Nationalist People's Coalition who also won placing 15,688,993 votes.

Joseph Victor Gomez Ejercito (Tagalog pronunciation: [ɛhɛɹˈsɪtɔ];[6] born December 26, 1969), also known as JV Ejercito Estrada, is a Filipino politician and businessman who served as a senator from 2013 to 2019. He had also served as the representative of San Juan from 2010 to 2013 and was the city's mayor from 2001 to 2010. He is a son of former Philippine president Joseph Estrada, and a half-brother of former senator Jinggoy Estrada.

Ejercito credits himself as the author of the Universal Health Care Act of the Philippines.

On October 1, 2012, Ejercito filed his certificate of candidacy for the 2013 Philippine Senate election, where he won as the 11th placer out of 12 winning senators elected.

During his six years in the Senate, Ejercito filed a total of 140 bills and resolutions. Ejercito also chaired the Senate Committee on Economic Affairs and the Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement and the Health and the Demography Committee in the 17th Congress.

He was the principal sponsor of the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act (R.A. 11229), which requires children 12 years old and below and shorter than 1.50 m (4 ft 11 in) to sit on child safety seats when riding in a vehicle.

On April 6, 2016, Sandiganbayan Fifth Division issued an arrest warrant against Ejercito and four other government officials, in connection with allegations on misuse of funds during his term as San Juan mayor. However, Ejercito was cleared of the charges because the case was dismissed.

Ejercito ran and launched a campaign to secure a second consecutive term in the 2019 Philippine Senate election, his candidacy was endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte. His half-brother, former Senator Jinggoy, who was previously jailed and charged with multiple counts of plunder in 2014, also sought a Senate return. During the campaign, the siblings had a disagreement in the idea of them running at the same time, Ejercito expressed that Estrada running would "ruin his chances", he also threw shade against Estrada as he referred himself as "The Good One" in political ads. Ejercito was included in the Hugpong ng Pagbabago senatorial slate. After conceding defeat, his half-brother Jinggoy wished that Senator Nancy Binay would make it over Ejercito, with both senators vying for the last spot in the partial and unofficial count, Ejercito responded by telling Estrada that he placed 13th in his own hometown, “Let him speak... It’s painful to accept that even in your own bailiwick you are unwanted,". Eventually, the siblings both lost as Ejercito ended up in 13th place, just a spot outside the winning circle, while Estrada finished at 15th place.

Ejercito sought for a comeback to the Senate in 2022 and won as the 10th placer, earning his second nonconsecutive term. His half-brother Jinggoy Estrada, who also ran for senator after being defeated in 2019, was also successful as he placed 12th. He was endorsed by Senator Ping Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and President-elect Bongbong Marcos.

His campaign jingle "The Good One" has been used in his campaign. It was also used in 2019 for the re-election bid. Since then, it has been a hit by netizens as a meme.

Upon full independence in 1965, "Majulah Singapura" was formally adopted as Singapore's national anthem. By law, the anthem must be sung with Malay lyrics, but there are authorised translations of the lyrics of the anthem in Singapore's three other official languages: English, Mandarin and Tamil.

The national anthem is regularly performed or sung in schools and armed forces camps at ceremonies held at the beginning and/or the end of each day, during which the national flag is also raised and lowered and the national pledge is taken. Singaporeans are especially encouraged to sing the national anthem on occasions of national celebration or national significance such as at the National Day Parade, at National Day observance ceremonies conducted by educational institutions and government departments and at sporting events at which Singapore teams are participating.

The national anthem was arranged by Iskandar Ismail (who also wrote the music for the games) and performed during the closing ceremony of the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics by 12-year old Nathania Ong.

The new re-recording version of the national anthem was released on December 3, 2019 at the public on the steps of the National Gallery, exactly 60 years after the national symbols were released.  The re-recording of Majulah Singapura is an update of the previous official recording, with better sound quality to reflect the improvements in audio technology since 2000. The version was broadcasted across all Mediacorp, Singapore Press Holdings and Safra radio stations at 11:20am.

The re-recording was performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Chorus, Singapore Symphony Youth Choir, and the Singapore Symphony Children's Choir.

A new recording of the national anthem, Majulah Singapura, with a grander and more inspiring arrangement, was launched on 19 January 2001.

The new anthem recording was the culmination of more than a year's work by the Ministry of Information and the Arts. The main objective was to make Majulah Singapura, one of Singapore's beloved national symbols and References, more accessible to all Singaporeans.

Several leading local composers were invited to re-arrange the national anthem in May 2000 in the key of "F". Cultural medallion winner, Phoon Yew Tien's version was chosen by an evaluation panel, headed by Bernard Tan. The orchestration is in a slower tempo and uses more instruments to create a majestic rendition of the anthem.

Singapore's very own flagship orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, with Lim Yau at the helm, did the new recording at Victoria Concert Hall on 20 November 2000. The new arrangement has been recorded in seven versions including orchestral, choir/solo and piano.

The version of the national anthem is the Choir with Orchestral accompaniment - version 2 (Melody in Unison), performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Singapore Youth Choir. It was used in the National Day Parades of 2001, 2004, 2008, 2020, and 2021. It is also used on all Mediacorp channels (Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel U, CNA, Suria, and Vasantham) and radio stations (Ria 897, Gold 905, Symphony 924, YES 933, CNA938, Warna 942, Class 95, Capital 95.8FM, Oli 968, Love 97.2FM, and 987).

A new recording of the national anthem, Majulah Singapura, with a grander and more inspiring arrangement, was launched on 19 January 2001.

The new anthem recording was the culmination of more than a year's work by the Ministry of Information and the Arts. The main objective was to make Majulah Singapura, one of Singapore's beloved national symbols and References, more accessible to all Singaporeans.

Several leading local composers were invited to re-arrange the national anthem in May 2000 in the key of "F". Cultural medallion winner, Phoon Yew Tien's version was chosen by an evaluation panel, headed by Bernard Tan. The orchestration is in a slower tempo and uses more instruments to create a majestic rendition of the anthem.

Singapore's very own flagship orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, with Lim Yau at the helm, did the new recording at Victoria Concert Hall on 20 November 2000. The new arrangement has been recorded in seven versions including orchestral, choir/solo and piano.

The version of the national anthem is the Choir with Orchestral accompaniment - version 1 (Melody in Harmony), performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Singapore Youth Choir. It was used in the National Day Parades of 2003, 2005, 2006, 2010 (with Singapore Idol winner Taufik Batisah), 2014, 2015, and 2018. It was also used on all Mediacorp channels (Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel U (effective January 1, 2005, when the channel's ownership was transferred to Mediacorp from Singapore Press Holdings), CNA, Suria, Okto, and Vasantham).

The tune was originally used as the regional anthem of the state of Perak—"Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan", which was adopted from a popular French melody titled "La Rosalie", composed by the lyricist Pierre-Jean de Béranger.

The anthem's arrangement was modified several times in 1992, 2003 and 2006.

The official theme song of the 125th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence is entitled "Samo't Saring Iisa" released on March 4, 2023 during the 100-day countdown to the 125th anniversary of the nation's independence. The song highlights the Philippines' rich history and diversity and it was performed by Nyoy Volante, Gian Magdangal, Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, and Lara Maigue, while Kent Charcos wrote and composed the song.
