Words written and spoken by my dear friend, Brooke Owens. A cancer fighter, and a cancer victim. She died on June 24, 2016. She had written this spoken word piece several years ago after another horrible round of cancer treatment. For years she battled cancer in areas all of over her body, at the same time climbing the latter of the aerospace industry and writing poetry in her free time. She was one of the most driven, authentic, loving, sensitive, bravest, most beautiful people I've ever known. And I was honored when she asked to collaborate with me in making October into a song. Brooke, I love and miss you terribly.

Morning Coffee

Inspired by films like Braveheart and The Village, I wrote Candlesticks to encapsulate fragile and vulnerable moments, perhaps following suspense and or internal conflict. This score cue relies heavily on a soloing first chair violin to create a feeling of individuality, perhaps loneliness.

Instruments include: Audiobros LASS2 strings, slight percussive elements from Cinesamples Drums of War2, and Spectrosonic's Omnisphere for sound effects.

Candlesticks

Life is short. Do what you love. Writing and composing music is hands down the most amazing thing I can think of. I've fallen in love with the process of creating and crafting melody, and working with equipment, musicians, and engineers to see my ideas come to life. As another medium of art, the work of expressing thought and emotion through sound can be a huge responsibility.  But what a brilliant time we live in when the tools are more available for expressing our creations.
