Were You There

Iowa / Illinois - based violinist Zion Lee began her musical activities at the age of three and currently enjoys an active career as a violinist in many mediums. From but not a native to Ames, Iowa, Zion received her Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University in June 2020, under the tutelage of Gerardo Ribeiro. She still closely works with Ivan Ženatý and Jinjoo Cho, with whom she studied with during her time at the Cleveland Institute of Music. As an avid chamber musician, her mentors include the Dover Quartet, the Cavani String Quartet, Peter Salaff, Sean Lee, and many more. Zion performs frequently with her chamber ensemble and duo for many events in Chicago, and currently has a small studio of private students in Ames, IA and Evanston, IL who she teaches through online lessons these days, taking Covid-19 precautions. In her free time, Zion enjoys taking long walks, curating music playlists of all genres, and teaching English to students all over the world.
