DJ Element of Zion's Gate Sound is a well rounded, versatile DJ based in Seattle,  Washington.  Element plays Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, Amapiano, party classics and more.

BIO:
After experimenting with various musical instruments in his formative years, Zion's Gate Sound owner Selecta Element started rapping as MC Element in 1993, at the age of 13. Music was central to the rhythms and flows of the family during the Maryland years, as a teenage boy Element was rapping, writing lyrics and making mixtapes with cassette tapes. It wasn't until 1997 that Element started spinning records in Seattle. This is when he discovered that DJing was a true calling and committed to crafting his style and developing his art.

 Zion's Gate Sound was formed in 1998 and since then, Selecta Element has been playing shows, bars and clubs regularly all over the NW. 

ZGS has opened for Reggae stars including: Buju Banton, Sizzla, I-Octane, Capleton, Damian Marley, Barrington Levy, Beres Hammond, Chronixx, Spice, J Boog, Kranium, Gentleman, Richie Spice, Inner Circle, Kymani Marley, Collie Buddz, Morgan Heritage, Luciano, Bugle, Serani, Ding Dong, Protoje, Jah9, Jesse Royal, Perfect, Kabaka Pyramid, Turbulence, Elephant Man, Culture, The Abyssinians, Anthony B, Alborosie, Freddie Mcgregor, Jr. Reid, Everton Blendor, Prezident Brown, Ras Shiloh, Jah Mason, Lutan Fyah, Mikey Dread, Pablo Moses, Daweh Congo, Twinkle Brothers, The Congos, Eek-A-Mouse, Stephen Marley, Clinton Fearon, Alpha Blondy, Maxi Priest, SOJA, Sugar Minott, Assasin, Yellowman, Sly & Robbie, Chezidek, Mykal Roze, Randy Valentine, Gappy Ranks, and many more.

ZGS has performed locally in Seattle at venues like Showbox, Baltic Room, Havana, Chop Suey, Nectar, Larry's, Trinity, Oseao, Neumos, 95 Slide, War Room, HG Lodge, Last Supper Club, Corbu Lounge, Triple Door, Waid's Haitian Bar & Lounge, Monkey Loft, Lo Fi, Tommy's, Club Contour and many more!  Element started MONDAY NIGHT JAM JAM in Seattle in 2006 at Baltic Room, Monkey Loft and Havana.  JAM JAM lasted 15 Years and hopefully will return again.

Zion's Gate Sound entered the Clash business in 2006, and has since been in 5 sound clash events resulting in two First Place trophies, two runner up, and one 3rd place finish so far!  DJ Element has also been crucial in helping to build the West Coast's number one online radio station for Reggae music and culture called Nice Up Radio since its inception in 2016.  www.niceupradio.com
