After 4 years of expanding our community we have reached our 100th Valley Radio episode, a core aspect of the Valley undertaking so far. We are truly in awe of the sheer volume of amazing people that have participated in creating what Valley is today. A big thank you to all artists that have performed or contributed online and of course a thank you to all the lovely people who listen to our output and come support us live. We are truly here for and by you. 

With this 100th episode we present a ‘Valley’s picks’ mix, concluding our series that started out as live sessions at Red Light Radio, adapted to an online send-in with a weekly release and transformed to a bi-weekly series that has introduced so many people to wonderful artists. But don’t be sad! We will be back when the dust has settled. Sooner than you think...

In just under 20', this ideal in-depth analysis of "Arcaskathel" explores the blurred boundaries between reality and illusion.
Electronic and ambient soundscapes meld with japanese instrumentation and rouge-ah's poignant harp to create a sonic tapestry that ebbs and flows between moments of serene beauty and frenzied dissonance.
From longing nostalgia to the violent confusion and disorientation that comes with the loss of memory, this tracking shot invites the listener to explore the nuances of each sound and word, amidst the juxtaposition of brutal distortion, soaring melodies and punishing walls of noise.
The bold vocals, expertly crafted by Archipel, add another layer of depth to the already rich sonic landscape, shifting from demonic whispers to lullabies in the blink of an eye.

For our 60th release, we are very excited to present ‘Ison’, a new album by ABADIR.

Growing up in Heliopolis, Cairo, I used to visit different churches with my parents for Sunday mass and on Christian holidays. Fascinated with the choir and chants by various sects, I absorbed all these different sounds into one hybrid memory, which was the main inspiration for ‘Ison’. Using segments and field recordings from Coptic, Syriac, Maronite, Greek Orthodox and Catholic choirs, I present my own vision of what can be described as fresh hymns, fictional chants, or parts of a contemporary Sunday mass.

This is not representational. This is not a cultural relic for the exoticizing gaze. This is purely personal; a fictional sound rooted in the present.

While ‘Ison’ is clearly different from my last album, ‘Mutate’, it follows the same approach of revisiting cultural surroundings for potential mutation. If Mutate’s clubby vibe was made “to make the floor burn”, Ison is intended to cure last night’s hangover.
