Julian Determan, aka Mata Disk, is a DJ based in Rotterdam. After leaving behind his former aliases, he has embraced a distinctive sound that blends contemporary club music with ambient and atmospheric elements. Mata Disk’s music celebrates the experimental and boundary-pushing edges of the electronic music.

With two outstanding EPs —"Surrounder" and "Two Sides of the Same Coin" — both released on Nous’Klaer Audio, and a remarkable live performance at Draaimolen Festival, he continues to gain recognition for his immersive and forward-thinking approach to shaping sonic landscapes.

We’ve been big fans of Israel Vines ever since hearing him play out in LA warehouses some 15+ years ago. A true veteran of the US underground, Israel spent his formative rave years in Detroit and Chicago in the early 90’s - where he worked at the legendary Gramaphone Records - before going on to become the distinguished producer/DJ we know him as today, with releases on Tresor, Semantica, Cult Figures, and Eye Teeth (sub-label of Detroit’s own @ithqdetroit ).

Both Israel’s productions and sets reveal his encyclopedic knowledge of, and a deep love for, abstract electronic music - always carrying his signature heady sound and flair for bold artistic expression. Israel has played for us several times before at @gradientcampout and other collabs with our homies eternal @printshop.club ❤️ We're thrilled and honored to have his contribution to Palm Reader, our series dedicated to ambient and experimental for wayfinding in stillness. This mix was recorded live at our Palm Reader label preview night (!) on Friday, June 13th, indoors at Plata in Silver Lake. @itoldyoualready is a DJ & producer born in Costa Rica, founder of PLASTIQUEONLINE. Their love for underground music began after migrating to Chicago, influenced by legends like DJ Deeon, DJ Houzmon, Green Velvet and Justin Aulis. Inspired by the sounds of acid house, ghetto house, minimal / jack, techno & electro, their journey in music production started with the help of DJ REYZ / DUDLEY SLANG, who introduced them to the world of hardware equipment. 

Now based in Barcelona, ITOLDYOUALREADY’s distinctive sound could be described as a pulsating fusion of old school, crunchy and minimalist sequences, with a gritty, underground feel. There's a raw energy in every one of their tracks, that draws an immersive vibe, pulling you in and not letting you go, creating a driving, intense experience on the dancefloor.

Having their music supported by the likes of DJ Slugo, Geto Mark, Janesita, Lupe or Luke's Anger, they have had the opportunity to play sets in different venues and underground parties in Costa Rica, Chicago, Barcelona, London, Warsaw, Paris & Mexico City, spreading the sound of ITOLDYOUALREADY across the globe.

For our opening mix, we’re delighted to share a recent Steam Room session with the Bangkok-based selector and producer Sunju Hargun. 

For two hours, he delivered a masterclass of immersive, deep and psychedelic techno. And true to style, the set is a seamless flow of intricate rhythms and subtly shifting textures, shadowy grooves and pulsating basslines.

With a diverse taste from ambient to techno but always with a psychedelic dark and evolving twist.

This mix is no difference a beautiful deep dark trip within different textures and melodies and gruadally evolves but keeps the groove and dance.

In my club sets I am always looking for a balance between repetitive beats that soak you up and make dance floors move like one body, and breaks and experiments that keep things interesting. This beautiful track full of weird sounds really works for that. Not only it's an amazing track, it is also a very important message. I don’t want to take up too much space on this platform that is also used by P4lest1n14ns to show the world the unimaginable horror and injustice that is done to them, without pointing that out once more.

"This set was recorded at dawn on a Sunday morning, closing out a long day of incredibly inspiring music. I hadn’t gone to bed yet and was so locked into the sound that by the time I started playing, I was already deep in a trance. I took over from Formant Value & Simone Bauer’s live set, picking up the momentum where they left off, then gradually brought the BPM down, leaning into psychedelic textures and trance-laced rhythms.

Those two hours flew by - we were all locked in. It’s a rare kind of magic to do what you love in a place like Refractor, where most artists stay for the whole weekend to immerse themselves in the community and support each other. Music has this way of creating deep connections, and you could feel that throughout the festival. We were part of something unique.

And the crowd... what can I say. Even after a full day of dancing, they stayed with me through the entire set, joining me on the sonic journey I was crafting to carry us into the morning."

Swiss-born, London-based artist TSUNIMAN has gracefully imprinted the London scene with their spellbinding selections from the underground, spanning raw trance, spacey techno, tribal rhythms, and progressive delights. TSUNIMAN's sound alchemy merges dark, hypnotic elements with ethereal vibrations, creating otherworldly soundscapes that captivate the senses. A resident at Klub Verboten and a regular at FOLD's UNFOLD party, TSUNIMAN has graced the decks at renowned institutions from Berghain's Säule to Macadam.
