Dear reader,  here is the story behind this song.
I have been missing the female voice in the zulu narrative lately.. So when I heard the amatjitji (zulu virgins) singing my heart lit up and I sampled them for my intro. This song is inspired by an old zulu regiment hymn of war.  A song about those who have been wounded in battle but return braver and fiercer to engage the enemy again with even more determination to win. In 2021 this is how I connected with this ancient zulu hymn. After the passing of the king we are wounded, but determined that we will return to face the world stronger and braver looking towards the horizon for the rise of the new dawn.
We are left with this rich culture and legacy

On the second verse, while Zero does make references to having a good time he also portrays his ever-so-clever writing skill previously heard as well in Li Phat's(first) verse. Two stances taken by the artists but fused well to give life to what you will forever remember as TURNT UP.
