For many, electronic music production is a calling, an activity that gives a sonically inspired person purpose. Following a transformative period in his life, Northern UK producer Levi David regained a passionate desire to return to the studio, reaffirming that sound design is existentially essential for him as an artist.

Utilising this momentum, he went onto create a 3-track project which told an encompassing past through to new beginnings story. The result was the Lust EP, titled for the revitalisation of the artist’s love for life and making music.

The release strikes a dynamic balance between introspective deepness and high octane excitement by combining dreamlike elements and energetic components in equal measure. The reflective nature of each song aims to transport the listener on a sub-conscious journey, connecting and reflecting on memories old and new.

The opening track, Divine sets the stage with dramatic undertones, whilst capturing the imagination with melodic progression. Paying homage to the artists’ hometown and early clubbing roots, Entropy reminisces on a time gone by with hopeful keys and joyous sampling. The final curtain comes in the form of the EP’s galvanising title track, Lust; an elevating vocal hook fused with 90s big beat close out the release in a hair-raising and powerful style.

Transcending the woozy microcosm of breakbeat and electronica established on his label debut [CNP015 - ‘The Body / Something’s Not Right’], CNP020 sees Streaker push his sound into opulent technicolour.

Amid a wash of psychedelic hues, A1 (’Strange Operator’) beckons with an irresistibly saturated tech-house skip. Seatbelts are advised, as Benson’s heart-throb 4x4 propels us to a strange, yet loving, astral plane.

A2 illustrates a co-existence of sophistication and minimalism rarely found in post-millennial house music; an otherworldly vocal (courtesy of Ursula Rucker) is glued effortlessly with Streaker’s understated percussion, on the blissful 7-minute title track.

On the flip side, ‘Dimension’ (B1) thrusts us into a Balearic haze of raves-gone-by. Glimpses of early acid house and trance permeate this shimmering and uplifting club-pumper, before our cosmic journey concludes with the elegant and soulful ‘It’s Yours’ (B2). Acting as a reminder of our Earthly genesis, shades of quintessential minimal house and UK garage tastefully underpin this 00’s-inspired stomper."

Written between 2020-2021, “Cerulean” is a ten-track album which delves into the isolation of the emotion of blue. The tracks flow between UK genres, combining sliced breaks, emotive melodic synths and deep pulsating low end to audibly display Jeigo’s intricate and melancholic production qualities. The album was produced in his former family home in South West London during the pandemic and finished in his home for the last two years in Peckham. Each track sits on the border of home listening and club functionality, with essences of crying on the dance floor euphoria, to those blissful or challenging moments alone.

“Over the period this was made, this project was the epicentre for my emotional stability and creative output, allowing me to find some comfort and calm in the tough moments of isolation that 2020/21 brought. Dedicated to my Dad and his best friend Roger”

Fell in love with this tune on first listen when Cardiff based DJ & producer, Dan Newman sent it across about a week ago.

Clocking in at 4:39 minutes, 'Killing In Detroit' ticks several of the right boxes. A UKG tune that's built around an acapella that reaches out to the inner innocence of its listener, the track features warm synths and a steady beat with subtle fills, whilst coated with the sweet sound of a vinyl crackle. About Dan Newman -

Dan Newman is an underground DJ who is predominantly known for his eclectic sets, switching from multiple genres such as garage, house, break-beat, disco, electro, jungle and ghetto house. 

A recurring theme within his track selection remains constant, which is high, fact paced energy. Dan had co-founded a series of events within The Valleys which has seen him book the likes of Trance Wax, Kettama & Elliot Adamson and created a scene where local DJ's could express their individual styles without any restrictions. 

His recent move to Cardiff has already seen him book the likes of Space Dimension Controller and Dan hopes to develop his unique underground experience within the city.
