Zorro - Pomp And Riddimstance VIP

First track of the new 3-track EP from me, GameBoo, out now. Full EP is most likely out on Sunday.

With GameBoo originally meant to be a single, I had a a couple other tracks that I felt fit the theme of a boo-themed EP. I started the drop for this track around the middle of June and was actually part of a scrapped drop from my other track Martin, released on that same month. From there, I made a spooky melody out of it. I especially loved the main boo-sounding bass patch as well as the metallic wob sound that are both prominent in this dubstep track, so I made some variations with it for the B-sections and second drop.

GameBoo

I started this demo around this April as I had been creating some IDs to play a livestream show a week later since I wanted to play some new stuff. I initially called this Tearout idea 1, which I guess I make my best attempt out of it.

I did remake some of the bass patches and called it tearout idea 2, which remained like that and haven't worked on it until the last few days of last month. I've worked on it a little bit more until I decided that I didn't like it, so I kept some of the original artifacts of the sound with a different drop riff.

For the melody, I really wanted to make an Egyptian-scale type of triplet melody with a vibrato-voice sound. There are 3 unique drops I don't usually do, but I still felt like they contributed to the same aggressive deathstep-inspired theme of Ghoul Hunt.

The interlude's lead melody is also what I wanted to include to help break some repetition of the triplet-voice-chords in the intro and second buildup. Anyways, there you have it.

Ghoul Hunt

As I continued to complete the theme of this track, I had remembers my Fuck Yeah America song from July 2015, which was later released as part of my Apocalyptic Apathy album on November of that year. So yeah it's been 6 years and had thought about making a VIP a while even before of coming up with this EP, so I thought a VIP of a track about commenting on the issue of societal flaws of America was a good fit for this EP. For this version, I want to confront the idea that the U.S. is not a perfect country.

Anyways, it has been a while since I did some glitch hop and took a bit of time to come up with a complextric bass drop. I did also sample from the original song for the second drop and interlude section, adding some newer bass elements and more powerful-sounding drums. I wanted to also include a cooldown section appearing twice in the song, consisting of some synth chops with reverb spaces just because I felt like doing that since it was something new in a long time to try out lol.

Fuck Yeah America VIP

Hey again guys, it's been a while since I've uploaded some dope dubstep wubs and stuff. Originally I was meant to release a single but I was able to make a 3-song EP and am barely fleshing out the last one so yeah bit of a rush however it's good to get back in the groove of also making bass house which one of the tracks is :) Anyways, enjoy the title track here, later will be uploaded on Soundcloud, tomorrow a new track and then the final one on Sunday probably which is when I'll simultaneously release the whole EP.

Upheaval

Track 2/3 from Zorro's upcoming Upheaval EP coming out this weekend, filled with some adventurous dubstep, riddim and bass house.

A little late on this track's release, but it's sort of refreshing to return to some bass house with this one. I took some bass patches from a complextro ID I have and constructed a first drop with them while at the same time building the chords and sixteenth-note choir pads. With this Nas acapella, I thought I would make a sing-along EDM song with some melodic intro, interlude, and outro. I also had a cool and simple swingy second drop idea that I decided to have more of some bouncy percussion for so I thought that was would be a nice switchup from the first and third drops :)

This is a bit of an objectively weird one in my opinion since the bass house drops do sound a bit too distant from the melodic side of Icanbe. Perhaps it could have been 2 separate tracks however some of the acapella I used seemed to fit in nice with the drops so I kept this as a whole.

So anyways yeah, final song probably tomorrow along with the full EP release, then a few days later would be a Spotify release as well.

New remix I made, with a melodic twist on the melody circus, it's been a pleasure making this as a 10-year-anniversary gift for Savant fans to commemorate the nostalgic 10-year anniversary of the 2012 Alchemist album and release of Savant's Alchemist 2 :)

Had a lot of fun making this one, putting a color bass, slimy bass and complextro twist for the drop ideas, also played around with pretty much every melody and chords from the original track, well, except for the two short ones before the interlude, but as far as I see it it's pretty much packed with a lot of various instrumentation already.

Anyways, thought I would use this as sort of a pre-album sort of release since I intend this to be part of my melodic EDM album project, with some vocal dubstep I intend to incude. Anyways, had this demo started since August 2021 and thought I would continue working it since I had made this cool melody I've made with this one vocal sound I have saved up as a Harmor preset. Originally the melodic sections had a different drop following afterwards but I decided to make the initial drops more melodic, had this bass sound that literally said "it's okay" on its own lmao. So I actually built the lyrics around what the meaning could derive from those words.

But yeah, the whole meaning I guess is, hang on there things will get better, not a whole of deepness with this shit, just a happy optimistic tune with some aggressive complextro and dubstep to accompany as a feeling of coming back strong from the sadness you may feel. Yeah sort of a two-faced song but I feel like this single still fits as more of a melodic house track, you might possibly say it's inspired by Savant's Savior especially in the beginning.

As for my vocals, I hope to get better with them, obviously gotta put myself out there with my voice. But yeah enjoy these dope visuals I made last minute for a lyric video :D

This track was initially started in May 2018 as one of a few demos I've made after finishing and releasing my Zario album on April of that year. Had a different chiptune melody which I ended up scrapping on the final stages of this track with only the first drop sounding more raw. Not really scrapping the melody but saving it for another ID.

But yeah, came back to this ID around spring of 2021, especially around May when somehow came to the idea of a dark yet black comedical video for my Cinematography II final assignment in my film program which I filmed around this time as well. The melody I was talking about earlier had this funny-sounding riff that would be sort of the theme of this guy having a mental breakdown over some food.

Sure, that MIDI isn't there anymore but I'm still keeping a lot of this video, since I had made an orchestral intro and interlude with a couple melodies which in my opinion was better suited to be by themselves and didn't need the old one anymore for this track. Anyways, old few-years-old music video I know, but might as well put it out there.
