Giants & Iakhsari: A Sonic Exploration of Identity and Collective Resistance." This techno-tribal set is the musical extension of my academic research into the collective, coded mechanisms of identity preservation. It's my journey from Ghent to the mountains of Georgia, where pagan gods are not merely mythological figures but embodiments of the freedom-loving spirit of peripheral people fighting against imperial oppression. Iakhsari, often an enemy of the Devis (ogres/giants) and a protector of humans, who with his strength and justice embodies insubordination and the fight against oppression – this is a metaphor for my search for identity and hope.
This personal quest and the story of Iakhsari resonate with the broader narrative of peripheral, collective resistance. Empires try to present our struggles separately, as if the fight of each colonized nation is an isolated story. In reality, the periphery is the true center, the fertile ground from which all that is progressive is born. Our struggles, despite their diverse expressions, are essentially one. This set is a sonic testament to this unity. Freedom for Georgia! Freedom for Palestine! Freedom for Ukraine! Freedom for Congo! Freedom for all oppressed nations!
