For the 19th instalment of our mix series, we are thrilled to welcome Zookey from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

We had the pleasure of meeting Zookey a couple of months ago in Berlin. Our connection sparked over a beer at Burgermeister, where one of us had a bag of records, leading to an engaging conversation about our shared love for music.

You may have spotted Zookey's name on the lineup for ADE in 2018 & again in 2019, where he performed alongside Sweely.

Zookey has been collecting records globally for the past seven years. In the last three years, he has delved deeply into his sound, emphasizing tech house from the late '90s to the early 2000s, right through to techno. The mix he has curated is a true testament to his heavy, bass-driven sets, perfect for any dance floor.

He draws inspiration from artists such as Samuel Deep, Nathan Coles, Pure Science, Asad Rizvi, Buchwacka, Andy Panayi, Len Lewis, Aubrey, Gideon Jackson, Terry Francis, and Mark Ambrose, to name a few.

“I always tell my friends that if I were British, I would start a marketing campaign advocating for a section at the British Museum dedicated to UK Tech House, highlighting how it has influenced dance floors around the world to this day. Whether in Berlin or Amsterdam, you still hear those old records being played by many DJs.”
