I knew George and Yvonne back in my student days in the early days of Zum. The enthusiasm, spirit, & openness behind Zum played a big part in those early days in galvanizing so many disparate people and musical worlds and also helped develop my own early awareness of a music community both around me and interconnected to a music scene at large in those days before I was making any music of my own in any public way. It’s a joy & pleasure for me personally to have had some of my own music released on the label so many years later and to be able to contribute to this compilation celebrating the 25th anniversary of Zum Audio.

With a souped up resonator played on his lap and a sleeve full of grunts and mumbles he produces unhinged trance-like boogie
drenched in surrealism. 'Ondankbaar Kind' is an electrified ode to an 'ungrateful child' that as of yet remains nameless.
Picture if you can the child dancing on the summer grass while the warm rains come down from above and wonder with me why anyone would dare to call him ungrateful. 

Vanhaelemeesch and George Chen met exactly 13 years ago while the former was promoting a Common Eider, King Eider show in Ghent.
A mutual love of obscure music and standup comedy was quickly established. Over the years Vanhaelemeesch contributed drawings to a ZUM compilation, posters and very soon a t-shirt also.
