Not everything that enters should remain.

Much of what we perceive as inner fluctuation is simply the body registering conditions that language has not yet caught up with. These signals often appear private, but they come from systems that operate underneath individual intention—inheritance, environment, and the subtle negotiations of relation. What is often called “sensitivity” is in fact a form of recognition: the ability to sense shifts in these underlying structures before they manifest socially. Stability, then, is not the absence of disturbance, but the capacity to discern which movements belong to us and which belong to the larger arrangements we move through.

In a world that encourages constant permeability, preserving one’s internal coherence becomes an act of intelligence rather than withdrawal. Not every force that reaches us deserves continuation; not every demand should enter the interior space from which we navigate life. The quiet task is to maintain a shape—one that can adjust without dissolving, absorb without collapsing, and remain aware of how external patterns attempt to reproduce themselves within us. To stay whole is not a matter of resistance or softness, but of understanding how influence travels, and deciding, quietly, what we allow to take root.

Zunesha, the experimental pop project by Berlin-based Producer/Singer/Songwriter Josiah Simonds, explores what it means to find oneself in a world crowded by superficial social norms. 

Zunesha built his skillset as a producer and songwriter through his work in a pop duo called CANDYBOY that he founded with his closest friend Sam Snyder in 2019. Together releasing “CAVITIES-DEMOS” in 2020 and the full-length album “Opus” in 2023. 

Since moving to Berlin later that year, Josiah started his new project as Zunesha; matching the name he had given to his cello years prior. He creates dreamy introspective songs brimming with hope for the future while acknowledging the pain of the past; exploring his queer identity with lyrics inspired by relationships, lust, and the inherent beauty in imperfection.

His recordings and performances often feature extended cello techniques and improvisation alongside live effects processing to stretch the limits of the instrument's acoustic character. Uniting this sound with other lush instrumentation including guitars, electronic sound design, and smooth vocals. Zunesha provides captivating experiences for his audience while pushing the boundaries of his skillset to create truly transformative work.
