The Fall

Yes. I caved in and paid up for SoundCloud, even though the comment system is still cuntingly bad since the redesign. But I've been making stuff and put some up on YouTube, but obviously there's still a big crowd on SoundCloud I wouldn't reach otherwise. So, fuck SoundCloud but take my money anyway.

I got into eurorack system this year, to give me new sonic options next to my other synths. I've nearly completed the build (famous last words 😄) and this energetic track is it in action. All sounds - except for the TB-303 and drums - come from it.

Take A Moment For A Change

A heavy bass track with an electro tinge. Due to my obtuse file naming I nearly lost this track - hence the title. ;) When I finally rediscovered it, I decided to give it an immediate trial run.

This is a new track I'm working on. Basically I plan to layer it, put some layers on it, add some layers and layer it some more until I have a chunk of white noise with a beat under it. :D  I think.

A few years ago I came across <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNJswfXKJ3s" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">the video of Dante Bucci</a>, playing the track Fanfare on his handpan. I had never seen such an instrument and was amazed by the sound it produced. Now I finally got round to the remix that had been playing in my mind for a while. [2015 EDIT: Fuck. I just found out Dante died last year. God damn. The world's lost a great musician.]

And here we are, the final version. Ditched most of the vocals, redid some parts like the cowbell and just freaked away on the 303 - switching waveforms mid-flight! :) So many knobs, just two hands... Deleted the old one (sorry if you commented) but I think this one is so new and fresh it warrants a re-upload.

Five months ago my main studio drive became inaccessible due to a Seagate firmware error. I wasn't even aware that particular drive type was in my system, but at that time I lost all my work. My samples, things I made, things I was still working on. 

Long story short, after a rebuild of my machine and a very, very lengthy data recovery... I'm back. With many thanks to my brother for helping me out restoring the drive. No fucking thanks to Seagate.

Anyway. After the rebuild I had a lot of technical issues that killed my creative powers for a bit. This is the first time where I felt I was back on track: hence the triumphant synth that comes along. Also featuring my lovely new MXR Distortion+ pedal. Sweet jaysus, that thing is cool.

About 6 303 riffs. Hope you enjoy. And remember: BACK YOUR SHIT UP!

Lazarus

I wanted this to be a track of contrasts. The warm, melancholy main synth under a biting moog bassline, overlaid with cold, straight beats and slicing 303 riffs.

This is an idea I had in my head for ages, using the Goldberg Variations and finally had time to try it out. Bach is such a generous composer, you can't really distort his music, whatever form you give it. Did the cowbells myself. Funky.
