The next Deep Mind Music comes from one of my dearest friends, and greatest inspirations - hems

hems and I have a special connection, we both love to adventure through musical lands strange and beguiling, evocative and unusual, and have spent many hours together digging through obscure backcatalogs or making our own noises experimenting with hems’ many synthesisers in his studio in London 🧡

hems plays music like no one else I know, he has a magic touch and deep sensitivity for representing all shades of human existence. From the sublime to the transcendent, the unsettling to the hilarious, hems’ sets takes listeners to the beyond and then further still.

I first invited hems to make a mix many years ago, so I am very happy to finally welcome an entry from him. This recording is the first 2.5 hours of an all-night 8 hour set hems played at an intimate private gathering in Mexico City in March of this year.

In this recording hems coaxes us to drift inwards, to enter into an unusual landscape, to open up to all the elements of sound, contrasting pre-Hispanic music with vintage synthesizer tracks and much more.  

Listening to hems’ sets over the years has expanded my mind towards new possibilities, his selections and genius touch for programming evoking many deep epiphanies and insights. This mix is brimming with vitality and life, I hope you enjoy this kaleidoscopic voyage into the mystical 🌿 ~

Eafhm is a multidisciplinary project from Mexico created by the evolution of different artistic and exploratory stages.

This project has developed different facets, including a career as an interpreter and audio producer when experimenting with a wide variety of musical sequences. It seeks the integration of oscillating interpersonal ideas among the variety of solid conceptions. This project also defines the transformation of the artist that has developed under different aliases for years.

Each interpretation is made to create an atmosphere based on sound art, generative art and Techno in its different variations.

Panopticon w/Eafhm (live) - Before Midnight S2E30

40 Hz is a producer and relentless digger based in Nantes. With a background in sound engineering, he explores the fringes of bass music through hybrid textures and sharp sound design, with a strong focus on detail and impact. His new EP, Transient, reflects this approach — a project that’s both introspective and physical, shaped by influences from the Australian and UK scenes (Iota, Ok EG, Sam Brickell…).

Blending ambient and bass, Transient brings together airy melodies and dense low-end, driven by tight, organic rhythms. A sense of nostalgia runs throughout, echoing childhood memories and raw sonic tension. Two remixes by Neida and Portway extend this dynamic with their own distinct textures.

Spotted on labels like Krakzh (Théo Muller) and Jerry Horny, 440 Hz has performed on stages such as Astropolis and UBU. His live sets showcase a precise and ever-evolving musical vision.

Plying refracted rhythms with an exacting poise, Aerae arrives on Samurai Music with a fully formed sound that plumbs the depths between techno immersion and D&B beat science.

An accomplished, palpable tension runs throughout Nefanda, Aerae’s second solo release. Following up on the meditative pulse of her debut album on Annulled Music last year, the Paris-based artist digs deeper into ominous atmospheres filled with evocative reverb decays and taut, dynamic drum work — tools she wields to render tracks with specific meaning, coded by the Latin framing that runs through all aspects of her musical output.
