The end of a relationship is filled with all kinds of emotions, foremost of which is denial. How could something so beautiful become so ugly?

Continuing on their exploration of dark themes set amidst darker soundscapes, GLASS PALACE from ZYkR’s second EP NOIA focuses on the futile efforts we pour into fixing things that can’t be repaired.

Razor to erase her from my spleen
There is nothing to do but to do it clean
Self-harm is condoned if I call it therapy
Take a swig, Bite down, Do what’s necessary

Comprised of gritty bass and distorted guitars pounding against frenetic beats, GLASS PALACE splits into two sections, finally moving towards a sort of veiled acceptance

We can cover it in plastic
But our glass palace is cracked

Addiction resembles a prisoner's dilemma since there is a conflict between a person's current and future selves in terms of their decisions. And often the future self loses. 

Continuing on their explorations of dark themes amidst darker soundscapes, PRISONER’s DILEMMA from ZYkR’s second EP NOIA takes us into the mind of an addict. 

Let’s call it a supplement
I’m still a pleasant gent
Deal me your most potent strain of sympathy

Gabor Mate (quoted in the intro), stresses on how addiction has less to do with the substance and more to do with the void it is filling. And in most cases, the void is trauma or lack of security. Cut off, alone from the rest of the world, an addict turns to what he knows best.

Turn you’ll turn, you’ll turn away from me
But it’ll stay

The solace in having that hit to counterbalance whatever may happen in the real world. The blame games that need to happen for a habit to continue. The questioning of one’s own degeneracy and validating it with what once was, before the addiction. PRISONER’s DILEMMA uses an unconventional tense palette of sounds to draw out an unconventional tense life.
