you wake up in the morning and you’re huffin and a puffin
you think today’s the day you’ll finally quit
but fox is tugging at the ends of your catastrophic plan
and you’re getting really tired of his shit

in the car you light another cigarette
on your way to make the big wheels turn
smoking on your way to teach the public to forget
you swallow all the lessons they unlearn

you arrive in southwestern idaho 
to deceive inveigle and obfuscate again
another simple story about a simple weather balloon 
or a very novel type of aeroplane

as you walk away you light a cigarette
chewing on the progress that you stole
you breathe it in and breathe it out until your heart and lungs give out
you become deeply entangled in your role

Nixon’s on the radio and the magicians on at nine
mom and dad are getting drunk next door
you steal a daughter’s childhood and break a young man’s mind
