The second track 'Conversa de Bêbado' has as background an episode of Yuri's travel to 'Ilha das Cobras' in Boipeba — with an effortless minimal groove Yuri himself his interprets this boozed-bewildered man who oriented him to the right directions, sometimes drunk talk isn’t just nonsense. 

Although the EP is inspired by the work of Norwegian painter Edvard Munch, The Scream, which reflects through distorted forms and the expression of the character the pain and difficulties of life, resulting in a scream as a manifestation of emotions, which certifies the work this young Brazilian is precisely this spontaneous organic feel that manages to transducer his surrounding reality in sounds, so rich in interpersonal history. In this way, Yabiru is also, metaphorically and certainly, the sound-box-head that prints the cover of the EP, a pulsating sonic source of creation, potency and otherness.

A segunda faixa 'Conversa de Bêbado' tem como pano de fundo um episódio da viagem de Yuri à 'Ilha das Cobras' em Boipeba - com um groove minimalista sem esforço o próprio Yuri interpreta esse homem embriagado-aturdido que o orientou nas direções certas, às vezes conversa de bêbado não é ladainha.

Embora a capa do EP seja inspirada na obra do pintor norueguês Edvard Munch, 'O Grito', que reflete por meio de formas distorcidas e da expressão do personagem a dor e as dificuldades da vida, resultando em um grito como manifestação de emoções; o que certifica a obra deste jovem produtor brasileiro é justamente esse sentimento orgânico espontâneo que Yabiru consegue transduzir em sons pela sua realidade circundante, tão rica em história interpessoal. Assim, Yabiru é também, metaforicamente e certamente, a caixa de som que imprime a capa do EP, uma pulsante fonte sonora de criação, potência e alteridade.

Yabiru — Conversa De Bêbado

During rather dark and isolated times, Yotah and Voichek gathered in a small bassement to consult about their longtime love for downtempo techno. Soon they found themselfs spending countless hours in said place, often losing track of time and space, while taking their own approach on slow but yet energetic dance music, adding some dubby elements aswell. During this time they were able to learn quite a lot about music and how they could produce it, dealing with technical challenges and how they could manage to work in close collaboration while growing and thus changing as individuals aswell. Cut a rug EP presents the beginning of a deep friendship and an ever inspiring journey through sound and time.

The "Sunpan" is a handpan instrument similar to the famous "Hang".
The track titles are a play of words, merging "Sunpan" with "panther" and "panoramic".
The ideas for the tracks originate from an ambient life performance (Sunpan/synthesizers/percussion) by Matthias aka M.Age.Project at the intimate "Auennacht" festival in Deilmissen/Germany before the Pandemic.
On this release the enchanting sounds of the Sunpan now fuse with deep beats, organic ethno vibes and powerful globelectronica grooves for memorable festival nights and cosmopolitan dance floors from Mykonos to Tulum.
Combined with two hand-picked remixes by The Oddness (Australia) and Tribilin Sound (Peru), the album conveys a transcultural perspective and a panorama of sounds that literally span the globe from one side to the other, representing a peaceful coexistence and exchange of diverse cultural influences that would be beneficial to us as human beings.

Ghetto Kumbé: welcome to the ritual of drums.

Raised on Colombia’s Caribbean coast and united by its capital, Bogota, Ghetto Kumbé combines the rich musical heritage of their home, to invoke the spirit of digital rumba in audiences all over the world. The secret behind their irresistible electronic ritual lies in their powerful percussion base; Caribbean house beats and traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms inherited from West Africa. The album’s co-producer, The Busy Twist, adds all the legacy of UK’s Bass scene to the Afro-futuristic sounds of the 3 Colombians.

Inspired by the different revolutionary movements emerging all over the world, Ghetto Kumbé will release their first full-length album in July 2020 on pioneering Latin American electronic label ZZK. Their self-titled debut is visceral, committed, and rebellious, denouncing through frantic rhythms the inequalities and abuses imposed by corrupt governments, while simultaneously enticing listeners to join in the fight. Dance mingles with awareness to create a global community, where family, friends, and strangers come together through our shared love of music and activate change amongst themselves.

Using musical motifs from Africa and Colombia’s Caribbean coast such as the gaita, call-and-response vocals, and an array of hand drums and rhythms, coupled with the elegant electronic production of Tech/House, Ghetto Kumbé creates an Afro-futurist soundscape with lyrics to motivate, elevate, and inspire.  Their first single to come out, ‘Vamo a Dale Duro’, is a fluorescent criticism of the unjust divide between the poor and the rich, the rising prominence of dirty politicians, and the ethics of the capitalist system while encouraging people to stand up and fight for a dignified existence. The album’s tone fluctuates fluidly between tracks that include ancestral chants, voices both deep and resounding, and anthems to uplift and inspire, as well as features by up-and-coming Réunion island artist Melanie and the Palenque-based folk/hip-hop band Kombilesa Mi.

In the Americas, Ghetto Kumbé has become one of the most important alternative groups to come out of Colombia. They’ve played Barranquilla’s world famous Carnival, Bogotá’s recent Boiler Room, and have even opened for Radiohead. The ancient yet modern sound of the three powerful musicians has made them a legitimate representative of the new Afro-House scene burgeoning all over the world.

In the ep they are hosting talented musicians from their community such as: “Shaman Shaman” with his gibberish vocals on the track “Contraa”, Aviv Bachar playing the ancient Beduin instrument called Sumsumia in the track “Cubia” and Oren Ben David going wild on Analog Synths in the track “Kibutz Jungle”.
