General Oglethorpe & the Panhandlers began on a Savannah porch in July 2009 with Devin Smith & Anna Chandler. After some shifts in lineup, they are now joined by drummer Duncan Iaria and keyboard player Daniel Wilson and just released their debut LP, “Whistle the Dirges," in February 2011. Their evocative storytelling is decorated with rich two & three person harmonies, accordion riffs and bright rock tempos. Untimely death, lost love, gentrification, summer sweat, and wanderlust find a way into every song to create what has been hailed as “the sound of Savannah.”
