My Thoughts:
When I wrote this track I had vocals in mind but then it ended as an instrumental... then I thought of Nick and wondered how his powerful, unique skillset as a writer and singer (although most of us know him as the amazing guitar virtuoso that he also is) would come together on this track and really to my full amazement, Nick totally captures a whole new level for the track while also encapsulating the exact killer vibe I thought he would bring in my imagination ... in fact my imaginational expectations were blown away... Such a joy to do this with Nick again, and I hope again :) enjoy

She Said:  This song started when Gary came up with this awesome groove and slick/sick synth line...I was hooked the minute that I heard it.  I so much enjoyed watching/listening as this piece grew layer by layer...Gary's awesome groove was born and then he came up with the concept...how we sometimes focus on the "outside" of things and really don't go to the root of the issue which, most often times lies inside...This one is a bit of a back and forth...question/answer kinda vibe between us...Gary came up with the beginning lyrics and then passed it off to me to come up with the ending ones...when we create, it truly is a back and forth, cyclical process...we truly do vibe off of each other as we go from verse to verse...and we have so much fun!!!   All credit goes to Gary for the vocal melodies ALL of the music and the entire production side of things...he has truly blown me away (once again) ...not only do i LOVE his voice so very. very  much and think he is an amazing writer...but, his guitars just do it for me...those walls of sound he creates with those heavy chords are just what i like and I find it a true honor that he continues to create such awesome music for us to sing upon :)

Well Jaime pretty much said everything I was gonna say except the kind words she said about me but I think she totally ROCKED her vocal and lyric on this piece and love her resonance on the chorus. An original progressive metal amalgam....

She says:  this song is a true/real example of how music can be born from pure emotions/feelings.  The other night Gary was dealing with some things that were quite difficult and emotional...he decided to grab his guitars and get those emotions/feelings out!  And, boy did he ever!!! He sent me a few snippets of some of the most awesome...strong...powerful...in your face guitars that i have EVER heard from him. He asked if I may like to try to throw down some piano...his exact request was some "out of the box piano"..so, I sat down at the keys thinking of playing something "different" while also thinking about those powerful guitar riffs and about the feelings/emotions that I could SO totally feel coming from Gary...well, the piano I came up with even surprised me..lol...it ended up being the intro for this piece and an inspiration for Gary as we continued to build this song.  We created this song section by section...Gary had a lyrical concept in mind and wrote all of the lyrics...he sent me the track with his most AWESOME vocals on it..and asked me to just "do what I feel".."place myself where I wanna"...he always gives me free rein to feel the music and to do my thing..whatever that thing is..he is always very appreciative of it...and allows me so much room to be creative and free..I get goosebumps each and every time I listen to this song...I am 100% completely blown away by the strength of Gary's guitars and emotive/passionate vocals...this song was born because a man decided to face a battle head on, pick up his guitar, and ROCK it out like nobody's business...the power of music :)
Thank you, Gary, for continuing to inspire and for being such a solid human being, day in and day out!

He Said: This tune was coming from a personal emotional place at first like Jaime said and I was thinking instrumental, or something I would never really release; but then as I was on the other side of the feeling it hit me what I wanted to say, and it has to do with that many times as kids we can grow up in a bit of a bubble and then when we are shot out into the world it can be like a battlefield at times. No parent can ever see all the roads ahead for their kids. The joys are easy to take, but the trials can be a challenge. So this is a bit about that in a kind of final battle meme (if you will). When I tossed this over to Jaime I was literally blown away with her piano and harmonies shes put together for this piece. Two whole arrangements as in the intro and the outro and lots in between. I cant say how exited I was with her willingness to go all in on this one and it came together very easily with her shared help and awesome musical gifts. Shes a blessing for sure! She always says so many nice things but really she is the one deserving of all the same and then some.

This does we think :) My original mix to my ear was hollow
and I kind of lost control of it back then to my ear. Since the
new equip this year I wanted to re work it, and now Im happy with it. Gary

She Said: This song started as this most awesome/rockin guitar riff that Gary came up with and the coolest chorus that you will hear him singing. I had written these lyrics a while ago…we had spoken of doing something heavy, but we didn't really know when that time would come. Enter this music that started coming out of Gary and the lyrics that I had written fit the vibe perfectly! It's the classic case of girl has boy…and other girl wants boy. Well, two girls cannot have the same boy…so, one girl must let the other girl know she is not welcome. On a deeper level…these lyrics were also written as the ever ongoing battle of good versus evil…one girl is good..the other evil…one is "about which is wrong"..the other "that which is right"…choose wisely, choose wisely!!!
Gary wanted me to try to tap into a part of my vocal that I had not yet visited. The "angry/ticked off" persona. I think it took me about 6 tries to get the vibe that he had envisioned in his head..…when I totally got "all in there"..well, we were off! Gary came up with all of the vocal melodies and most of the improvs. We had SO much fun creating this one!!

He Said: This one is all Jaime. She totally brought this sort of "PO..d" kind of (defend your man) from predators vibe and I loved it. She really sang the heck out of this!!!
Its kind of about a fella who begins to wonder why shes acting so strange and questions her motives . Hes oblivious that there is some other interest after him , but then he starts to become aware. I always really enjoy the crap out of working with Jaime..we have such fun doing the tunes. She is never afraid to tackle a challenge or go way outside the box if the song calls for it...as long as its tactful cause shes a class act always.

she said:  here is another remaster of a tune Gary and I covered early on in our musical journey.  Gary shared the original "Grace" with me and i was just blown away by the power of it...the harmonies...and the message that it conveyed!!   I couldn't help myself..i had to try to sing those harmonies.. I sent a "harmony snippet" to Gary one morning because i just couldn't get it out of my head...he really loved it and said "you're gonna make me break out my acoustic, aren't you?"..lol..and so he did...he created this entire piece of music for us to sing on...it totally "feels" like the original..but it's also SO totally our vibe...when I first heard this music, I was blown away with the strength of Gary's vocals and his amazing guitar...two years later, I'm still equally blown away...i'm so grateful that he wished to remaster this piece for us...wonderful memories, indeed :)

He says: Back after our first collab together Jaime and I would toss back and forth music we enjoyed from other artists, and I had sent her over a link to Devin Townsends "Grace" which is a heavier vibe, but she came back with a vocal for the opening for the end and I was pretty blown away by it and I think I said , Hey  lets do it, ya wanna? to which she said, Heck yeah why not. I told her id like to do it a bit different because A, I dont think we could capture near the vibe as the original, and B, its always fun to do another take on someone elses track sometimes. This was one of the first tunes Jaime and I worked on together in our collab path, and It all started with the end which is Jaimes beautiful piano outro which really takes the piece out to that place of the title. The song is simply about having that alone place when everything in the real world piles up and can seem like its overtaking your even flow. Its not an escape but more a place to go and just shut the door and reflect, pray or meditate. I totally had a great time with Jaime discussing the concepts we wanted to present and then working on it with her. She is the best in all regards and this was a reworking of that original track we did so we could have it over here on our combined cloud. Thanks to Jaime and thanks for listening to our tracks :)

Gary totally hit the nail on the head explaining how this song was born. yep!! I think this is the 2nd collab that we did together...the 1st song being Painted FAces a straight up rock tune...with this one,  I realized just what a versatile and unique artist Gary was..i thought to myself "alright, alright...this guy is cool and unexpected...i like hangin with him...and i really dig the music that comes outta him...let's see where we can go..."  we talked, much, about the concept of this piece and our feelings on our own personal "alone places"..where we go, either physically or mentally when we just need to be alone with our thoughts....when I sat down at my piano i thought of my alone place...and this melody just came out..i was so happy that Gary liked it and used it as the outro for this piece.  I can't say enough good things about the kind of artist and person that Gary is...he has and continues to be such a source of inspiration and joy for me. She said:  this song is like many of the tunes that Gary and I do...a series of musical Goes Intah moments...Gary created a REALLY cool groove with drums/bass and synth...provided me with the BPM and asked if I may wanna come up with some piano....inspired by his initial snippet..i was able to come up with a few piano melodies that he really liked and that fit perfectly.  Gary came up with a really interesting lyrical concept that we played around with that takes a "tale as old as time" concept and fuses it with modern day...As we always do, we wrote the lyrics together and then Gary came up with all of the vocal melodies for us.  I absolutely love Gary's vocal...it's so strong, wonderfully textured and cool...and enjoy, so much, singing with him!!   To save my favorite part for last...the guitars that Gary brings to the table....i just LOVE!  The walls of sound that he creates with those hard/strong layers of guitars just gets me every time...i get the goosebumps when i hear them...still :) 

He Said: This track is about a supernatural seductress wreaking havoc on the population of a small town (warning!!). Her irresistible spell is tearing it up figuratively speaking. heh. Anyways this track was starting out as an instrumental piece (I thought) and then we changed our minds and did a vocal treatment.  I loved the piano part Jaime added and her vocal was just amazing for that mysterious Belle vibe. Jaime is way too nice for that role in real life but I think she pulled it off here. She said:  this song started out when Gary and I were discussing something and I gave him my opinion to which he replied "I could agree with you more but the level of my agreement is currently sufficient"....maybe 15 minutes later he says..."hey, i used that line for some lyrics"...the rest of the lyrics you will read flowed out of Gary within minutes...it's simply "gibberish"...statements and words that make no sense...while making perfect sense...i am constantly amazed at the way Gary writes...wow!!  So the song was pretty much built around random-ness...for me, i feel like this is one of our most "artistic" endeavors...and i had SO much fun listening to it as it developed. Gary sent me a vocal template of the entire piece with his AWESOME vocal and asked me to sing along...which i LOVE to do!  in the meantime..i had come up with a few piano melodies that Gary incorporated into the track and i think they just fit perfectly...even if i had no idea they would find a home in this piece.  Gary's musical ideas...his artistic sensibilities...his absolute freedom when it comes to experimenting with music...and, of course, his AMAZING guitar work and vocals never cease to amaze and excite me...and that's NOT gibberish :))

She said: this tune started out with a silky, jazzy, lounge-y, kind of groove that Gary came up with. He sang the opening lines to me which set the vocal scene for us....he was looking for a kind of sultry vibe from me, and i did my best to capture the essence of what he was wanting here. It's always fun for me to try to tap into different sides of my vocal...and, of course, when Gary creates such cool music for me to immerse myself in it's not hard to do at all. In my mind i could totally see the world where this "groovy gal" lives...all thanks to the music and the VERY cool lyrics that Gary wrote. After we got the vocal melodies sketched out, Gary began to paint more and more colors onto this musical canvas we were creating. I'm always both surprised and impressed by all of the different sounds that he is able to layer together that (in my opinion) keeps our music different and unique while also keeping it sounding like us. I love the music he created for us here, and i love the vocals that he brought as well. Gary has one of those voices that you instantly recognize...such a strong tone and deep texture in his voice...i love it lots! Thanks, Gary, for continuing to play outside of the box with me :)

He Said: Just coming off watching a Noir sci fi series Altered Carbon I was in the mood for something with a little sizzle and heat... I had a kind of jazzy lounge vibe in mind with an atmospheric sense and so I presented the idea to Jaime with a short section I put down and I was just blown away by the vocals she came up with for this... For me it just captivates ya as she puts this really mysterious celestial steam on the pallet of sound. I think all Jaime's performances are amazing but she really did a perfect vocal for this song I feel and she captured that thing we were looking for perfectly.

She said: Gary was going through his hard disk and found some really cool musical snippets that he had recorded and saved for "whenever". SO cool that multiple snippets recorded at various times could (and did) come together for our newest tune. The thing i love most about the music that Gary and I create is that neither of us ever have any idea how the song is going to go..it truly does become a "fluid thing" and it just goes wherever it wants..and we so willingly go right along with it. We just get into the groove and hang out there as long as we wanna. When Gary sent me back the first vocal melody/idea...i was HOOKED...BIG! I won't give anything away until you listen...but, i will say, i do hope by the end that you are just as hooked and singing along with us :) We did the back and forth thing on this tune (how we normally do)...Gary came up with all of the lyrics and the vocal melodies...and i had a blast singing along with him and, also, creating some piano for this. I am always super impressed with Gary's production abilities and how good he makes our tunes sound...lately, he's been experimenting and playing more with our vocals and different vocal effects and i'm having super much fun watching/listening to his musical growth in that area as well. I love how our vocals seem to be living inside the music...and bending and twisting as the music bends and twists. We do hope ya Dig :)

He Said: This is the spiritual successor to the last tune we did "Press Play" it goes deeper into the world of the phony hopeful figures from the future helping us to correct our paths, Who are they? are they even human? Are they corporeal or solid in their form? We are all learning as we go. This part 2 in the "Where here from the Future" series. 

Having said that this song is a little more Space Rock, with a Reggae vibe I think with elements of satire tossed here and there... and when I say tossed I mean it... literally as Jaime said we start a tune and then throw things at it to see what sticks. Usually even if we have a concept and an idea what we want it to sound like and the vibe , we are both always amazed at the end with the contrast from where we start to where we end up.... I think I really challenged Jaime on some of the vocals and I just leave it to her to work it out and when I get the stems I am always above pleased with her sensibility with what sounds cool and how to intermingle her vocal with mine. Toward the end of the song there is a rise of tempo and tone and a sort of time bending all the instrument and Jaime's piano work starts in there and takes us out to the end and I just love it LOVE IT! As well as the cool vocals she did here.

The coolest thing to me...the intro of this tune...the first, say 1:30...it doesn't sound like any tune that you may know...BUT when it gets to a certain place...a "synth melody" comes in and you have an "A HA!" moment...and you know, instantly what song this is :)

Gary was/is the amazing creative mind behind this music...I did the synth melody for us on my piano...but, everything else...he created/designed...arranged and nailed! i absolutely adore how he went about this and how he kept it "recognizable" but also turned it into a cover that is SO us.  We had an absolute blast creating this...and we certainly hope you enjoy it...and that, perhaps, you will be singing along with us as we go :)

He Said: I was not a big Disco fan back in the 70s and early 80s but came to appreciate much of the genre in more recent years... Its just music that makes me smile sometimes, some times because its fun and sometimes cause I survived it...haha! I always dug the vocals on this track and synthesized vocal were kind of coming into a phase where they sounded cool. Plus that  crazy hook and 120 BPM range that resonates with a 60 BPM heart rate, and that is the feel I was shooting for in this...something that syncs up with ya in the pocket or the groove and then sorta takes ya into the past a bit while still sliding into some kind of future.

Jaime played the iconic synth lines all through the track and I built the rest of the sort of gallop all around that... When she sent me her vocals I thought we would be both singing but I just thought she nailed the vocals and I thought I might detract from that...so I sang some of the Funky chorus... It was so fun going back and forth with this with Jaime and reliving that period of time in life. Great memories. Hope it comes across hehe its definitely a departure from the original and ya will probably wonder what the heck it is till it slides into the essence of the original....

she said:  music time, for me, has been very limited lately...Gary has
been ever so patient with me...for which i am so very grateful...he's
got such creative juices flowing at the moment...and i feel generally
slacking in that area...that being said, he mentioned a while back
that (perhaps) i may try my hand at writing some lyrics...he had the
idea for a tune called "maze craze"..the idea of the way life
goes...with different paths leading in different directions..and the
choices we make along the way...so, i went about constructing some
lyrics..and Gary wrote some as well...he created/wrote/played all of
the music and came up with some super cool funky transitions as he
does so well!!  He laid down the vocal melody/template and i had a
GREAT time singing along with him! He added his signature guitar
layers that just get me every time!!!    This tune has taken quite a
while to complete...we've gone through many twists and turns (as the
lyrics suggest)...but, in the end...we found our way out of the
"musical maze" ... yay :)

a big shout out to Gary for all that he does...and all that he
is...and another big shout out to all of our SC friends/family who
continue to follow us along and appreciate the music that comes out of
us...

He Said: So Love the lyrics and the vocals Jaime delivered for this new track. Just amazing how well she weaves in and out of this track. This gets back to our earlier work together a bit. We have been working on this one for some time and It is a pleasure to finally be able to get it done. Sort of a free flowing movement(from one scenario) to another scenario with the sections of this track. We genred it "Ambient Industrial Piano" which will become evident as moving through perhaps. It features 3 (in my opinion) beautiful piano scapes and melodies from Jaime.. which are often times with relation to (Jaimes piano) very goosebump inducing and emotional and for this track are the "pillar points" for the track. Interdisplaces between are kind of just interludes to the next pillar, with some keys placed here and there myself with some sound design,synths,and other stuff etc... for connectivity.

 As we move from place to place within the track. It kind of took us a while to get it all worked out with Jaimes and my schedule etc. We really enjoy these instrumentals that contrast and mix our individual musical vibes into hopefully an interesting twist or turn here and there to take ya into another direction right quick .. we enjoyed it  and hope you will also:) and as always thanks for taking interest if ya do :)

She said:  this tune started, as most of our tunes do, with a really cool groove that Gary came up with..his musical uniqueness, again, blows me away.....he played around with some synths and what (to me) sounds like strings...but, i'm still not sure what that is...lol...it set the tone/stage for what was to come...he added his signature most awesome guitars that i love so much and then asked me if i wanted to add some piano...unfortunately, due to my crazy life schedule right now and some issues i'm having with my hand...i'm not able to play the piano like i used to or like i like to...fortunately, i have saved some snippets from over the years...and a few of those snippets have found their way into this tune...and, i feel...they fit perfectly :)   I have to thank Gary for everything he does to make our tunes sound so good...from all of the instruments/layers he adds...to the flowing/vocal lines...to the production...he loves what he does...and he does it so well...i wish i had more time to create...and more time to reciprocate musical love with all of you...i miss you all...and hope that all of the beautiful  melodies are still flowing freely from your hearts :)

He Said:Jaime was too busy to write a new piano piece on the spot, so she went through some past work she did and sent it over and I think you will be blown away with the organic groove she played here... its aggressive and effectual, but also has this delicateness. I try to capture her piano in such a way that never takes you away from knowing right away , its Jaime. In this track she brought an almost old west style, player piano vibe, like you might hear in a saloon in the old western US.  Just gorgeous I felt.  

I enjoyed weaving in and around with the guitar. I also love the vocal she was able to record for this, not a lyrical song but more the ambient vocal harmony thing we like doing together... 

As for the mix I was going for an almost lo fi opening that might sound like its in a tube with some outliers of sound poking out to the wider field of sound....then we move into a more robust orchestra/tion section as it then slips into a kind of rock instrumental guitar piece where the mix becomes wider , with more pressure from the bass etc...and hopefully more spread out... once we "permeate" we then slip into Jaimes piano work with vocal ambient touches. She really shines with her harmonies I do believe. Catered more to a headphone type experience with a lot of phasing and layers etc... I dont think there are phasing issues per say but it was meant for the phones :) I also have a few section with some heavy "tension and release" kind of where things nearly go off tune and then get uncomfortable and then slip into tune for the release... I hope it works out :)

She said:  this song started after i received a message from Nick (Spade)...he was speaking of/sharing with me some things and feelings he was going through...and, those things, i could most certainly relate to...i haven't played much piano lately...but, after our conversation, felt compelled to go to the keys...to allow the emotions/feelings i was feeling at that time to come out..through music :)  

music, to me, is freeing (emotionally)...it allows me to say/speak through melodies...the title of this piece is "Free"... for a few different reasons.....no metronomes/played free...

i have to thank Gary for bringing this piano piece to a whole different level for me...with the added ambience, choir and beautiful pads/synths gliding so smoothly underneath...he always loves the piano melodies that come out of me...and i appreciate that so very much...

and to Nick...from one heart to another...i do hope you enjoy this piece...

We Say: We started this base track out and I kept thinking "Oh this would sound so cool with Dave and then another section I thought the same of Nick... this not being our first collab with Nick and Dave , it had been a while and to our happy surprise they both agreed to go all in with us on this one, and I got to say I am really into what they both played here and how they interpreted each the vibe of the song. Dave with his melodic and emotive playing style and musical instincts plays here with a mysterious buildup to a crescendo that brings some goosebumps up the spine.. When you hear Dave play you know that distinctive tone and style. We associate it with quality and talent. 

Then we move into Nicks taking the frets for a very sort of avant garde rhythm section he played as the solo literally rips in at virtuoso rate and yet maintains this very cool and addictive swell and sort of mini melodies around the plateaus. its mesmerising to listen to but also musically pleasing in our humble opinion. The cleanliness of the fretwork is of note yet maintaining a free flowing "ok where the heck are we going here" kind of thing... I love it !!

I think also everyone will enjoy the piano intros and outros that Jaime J Ross played for the track both interpreting essences of each of Nick and Dave's performances in and around the track and we really had a great time as this piece of music built over time :) Jaime always has a beauty and distinctiveness in her piano work... 

All we know is we totally enjoyed playing musical with Dave and Nick and we were so blessed to have to chance to jam on this with all us together again :) here's to the . "Its Us the Neighbors" band ... haha

We Say: This tune started out with an acoustic session with Cameron (Jaimes son), and we were glad we recorded it as he plays so beautifully we feel... it was all first take and the guitar inspired Jaime to sit down on the piano and come up with the intro,  from which we sort of built the track around those two phrases. 

The tune is meant invoke a hopeful mind as well as to try to bring you around from a relaxing sense to a bit of tension and drama (to get the flow going) and then with any luck, by the end you will have a smile on your face a little bit...

It seemed like it was time to get the fellas back together for a blast. Sometimes your working on a track and you can hear certain other musicians in parts in your head, and I had this track with some conventional bass and also some synth bass and a bit of a vocal vibe and I passed it over to Dave and Nick to see if they were interested and to my excitement they both were, and so I just said where i might imagine them, but they also took together and worked out the outgoing sections in a wild way that I think those who love their guitar playmanship will really appreciate and how it goes down...

Big Praise and appreciation to Nick and Dave for their amazing interpretations and instrumentation on this track. Please be sure to check them both out on their clouds

Dave starts off the track with an amazing complimentary groove and then rips into and amazing uplifting solo... all his talents and gifts on full display then he hands off the Nick who serenades us with some voice box goodness into a rip your face off solo, bringing them both together in the end with a very unique set of dissonant guitar sections (with a stomp here n there) that also compliment as they fuse together into the sweeping bow sounds of Nick to take us out... love it!!

I had been working on this track and had recently heard Nick do a cover recently of a classic Zep track and I already knew he could sing from so when I was working on this track again it clicked that Nick might enjoy singing on it.. When I think of Nick I think of amazing guitar work, and spontaneous explosions of sound in that realm.,.. 

Now also as a very powerful voice with his vocals. When Nick said yes I was excited to hear what he might do... I told him to do whatever he wanted and have fun with it... I think the performance is super powerful and ALL Nick... I never like to compare but when I was mixing etc, I swear I would hear reminders of many singers I grew up with... I was taken by the amount of power Nick sang with but stayed dialed in ... I also think much of this performance was one take inspiration, but Nick would need to comment on that. Such a pleasure to work again with Nick as we just worked on another instrumental guitar track with he and Dave, so it was cool this came up and was able to pass it over to him...Love it Nick !! Cheers
