I've always played South Side with the electric guitar, interested to see what it sounded like with just an acoustic so here you go, I just ran this through on 3 tracks, vocal, acoustic guitar and picked a bit with the dobro ... it is what it is ... bit different from the electric version but probably closer to what you might get live down the local open mic :)

Scrattin' around lookin' for a song to write and we go and have a couple of days of blistering summer sun ... first lot of the year and this one wrote itself in 10 minutes (strange how they do that sometimes). The lyrics are no great shakes but I think it goes together into a catchy little country pop song ...hardly outlaw but fun all the less. Me doing everything again, Martin acoustic, Gibson Les Paul, G&L Telecaster, 1986 MusicMan bass ... is what it is  .... have fun folks :)

We rushed it, the timing is all over the place and we will re-do it properly when we get her back in the studio but so many people have asked about it as she was so brave we just wanted to capture it. The Prayer - Kira Veasey

For a song that took literally 15 minutes to write the lyrics and tune ... its probably the most complex production ive ever done. It started out as a bit of a hybrid with a hip hop beat and a goal to get a sort of Dr Hook type sound, loving the pedal steel, organ and piano parts .... you know say it myself but I quite like it .... even if its clearly country pop :)

Had fun writing this one ... think I've probably managed to upset most people in here .... if you want anyone added ill be happy to oblige please let me know and ill re-write it :)

In It For The Dollar

Ellie May was one of the first songs I ever wrote, played it a few times, recorded it once, never touched it again ... dug it out screaming and into the studio today .... This arrangement is different than anything else ive ever done, took a country song and made it a bit more urban ... interested in your thoughts.

For the techies amongst you just guitars on this although the reverb has given it a "keyboard" feel ... a Gibson acoustic which is hiding a bit at the back of the mix and a Gretsch 5420 which is running two identical tracks on different amps, clean on one dirty on the other ... bass heavy, Fender Jazz with two separate and different bass tracks ... thats about it

Welcome to my Soundcloud a home for demos and a few live recordings on route to recording the album, thanks for stopping by. I'm a singer songwriter (UK Songwriting Competition Semi Finalist 2015/2016/2017) and multi-instrumentalist from Warwickshire in the centre of the UK with a strong leaning towards Americana, folk and modern country. I sing simple songs about simple people living the harsher side of life.
