After production delays in 2021, LDI Records present their fourth release and the debut solo EP from Texan electro producer Terrestrial Access Network - Distant Lands for release this January. The EP is drawn from the artist's shifting and hectic nomadic existence around the rattling expanse of the United States presenting 5 original cerebral electro tracks, backed up with a spooked out remix from Delsin Records’ Versalife aka Conforce.

Based in Austin, Texas, a city famous for its hyper-vibrant creative musical scene, Terrestrial Access Network feeds from the energy of this environment just as much as the desert that surrounds it. His day to day life involves travelling for near constant work projects - spending days and weeks away from home in what is a hectic lifestyle. In the feelings he channels when writing Distant Lands - he is pulled back towards the energy of the serene and calm landscape while on the road dealing with an unsettled nature of life and his profession.

Terrestrial Access Network began releasing music as recently as 2019 with tracks picked up for compilations on Swiss label Dionysian Mysteries. With a sound that is expert at creating powerfully immersive heads down moments for the dancefloor TAN has driven this EP with an ever present and intoxicating mechanical funk.

I guess the vocal recording “Holle Woorden” ,a phrase I found on Floris laptop, started this track. 

His poem:

Is the basis of this track.The piano melodie came straight out of my heart after a heard it on a hazy morning. It at the start, middle and the end of the song on different styles and feeling.The heartfelt synth was a follow up on the piano and makes it more  ethereal I guess 🌈 🫶

Holle Woorden (Emotional Piano Mix)

“Zweven is Leven” is a phrase Floris always used to say 👄 And also his lifestyle. As he floated al over the world and never found his peace until his decision to leave this world and float further into the afterlife! The track is sad but hopeful and uplifting at same time I think. My favourite part is here the brass flutes and communicating with each other and the low flute telling the high flute it’s going to be alright! A celebration of good friendships who never end even after death. R.I.P to als the good friends that have left the world earlier 👻

Zweven Is Leven

Long time collaborators Meat Beat Manifesto (Jack Dangers) & DHS (Benjamin Stokes) get together on fresh new 12” EP ‘Man From Mantis’. Both artists have rich musical histories, Dangers having released an extensive collection of music as MBM since the late 80s including pre-hardcore/jungle breakbeat touchstones (Helter Skelter/Radio Babylon) & late 90s masterpiece ‘Prime Audio Soup’, released on Trent Reznor’s Nothing Records and recognisable from its use in The Matrix. Stokes on the other hand has a smaller back catalogue but no less influential, having been responsible for all-time-classic foundational techno blueprint ‘House of God’.

Dangers & Stokes have always played around beyond the edges of the familiar and this EP is no different: 4 tracks of breakbeat techno future-sound that live in a world of their own. ‘Pandemic’ opens the EP with squeaky-clean mechanical acid, intentional and direct, tight and well-controlled, underpinned by a revolving, bubbling acid line. ‘Aggressive Mantis Squad’ comes bearing weighted breaks and hinterland bleeps, spanning the past and the future. B-Side opener ‘Automatic Mouth’ is a twisting chugger, occasionally breaking down to reveal a whirring & stuttering machine-spirit before the EP closes with the drum-fest dream sequence of ‘International Sound System’. 

These are lab-grown rhythm bombs, finely tuned off-kilter grooves, razor sharp crucial beats ready for the future, out on Love Love Records, May 2023

In categorizing ones own projects, a template of sorts begins to emerge. One of those is this series. Imbued Vagary is proud to present to you a collection of musicians as well as a collection of “captured moments”. In this case, the second in a series. Just as the name implies, these are moments of raw electronic improvisation, complete with all the “imperfections” one would expect from such an endeavor. Concepts thought up and run with on the spur of the moment. Captured moments of time in an overall fabric of synthesized space.

Imbued Vagary - Caddo Issaquah

Travel just thirty kilometers south from Amsterdam and you’ll find another world where jogging pants are the new cool and people actually feel free to smile when they go out. You have arrived in Utrecht. Call it Little Cornwall if you will, because it was in the South-West corner of England that lads like Aphex Twin, Luke Vibert and Mike Paradinas made their quirky yet emotional electronic music without acting cool as was common practice in the dancemusic scene at the time.
 
It’s exactly this Cornish way of life that appealed to the boys of Utrecht’s dj-collective and recordlabel 030303. Mind you, 030303 are not ashamed of their love for serious IDM and glitch flavoured tunes by contemporary hotshots .But they also enjoy watching the unsure expressions on the faces of their fellow music lovers whilst playing eurotrashy tunes by the likes of Twenty 4 Seven and Quadrophonia in trashy taverns such as Tivoli, Ekko, Melkweg and Kikker.
 
As healthier ways of living came into fashion in the 1980s, acid became more than a mere chemical substance and started to come out of machines as well. Despite their very young age, the 030303 crew became a huge fan of a particular bassline machine made by the Roland corporation and so did other now big names such as Cylob, D’Arcangelo and Ceephax amongst others, all of which come and celebrate the acid bleep at 030303 events around Utrecht and the dandy town of Amsterdam.
 
Being right in the middle of the happening acid-scene, the 030303 crew could not help doing what any other freak would do: they had to start releasing acid-tunes by Braindance veterans as well as by younger musicians. 030303’s chart-toppers range from subtle to bombastic and highly psychedelic, the common denominator always being a very deep bleep.
 
It’s just as fantastic as you’ve just read: 030303 brings a very complete picture that will never be equaled by any other crew. Feel free to rock up at any 030303 event near you but don’t forget to dress up as corny as possible! Aciiiiieeed!!!
