London producer Slacker’s rise has been steady. First announcing himself to the scene with the flurry of wonderful SoundCloud uploads, the producer has since released on Lobster Theremin and his own co-owned Pseudonym Records, winning critical acclaim from publications such as Resident Advisor and Ransom Note, and support from fellow exciting up-and-comers such as Otik (on Midland’s InterGraded label) and tastemakers such as Berlin based selector CCL.

The title track is a hard cut of malfunctioning electro; frantic, screwface energy designed for small spaces with no windows, while ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is a brooding, chugging cut of psychedelic dub-techno; something you might have heard Andrew Weatherall or David Holmes playing in the nineties. 

‘Mezcal’ sees the artist venture into newer, faster-paced territories as Slacker incorporates a Chicago juke aesthetic; sensationally bouncy, incredibly fun and captivatingly energetic, with just enough electro flavour for those who lack the ability to footwork to continue to dance. 

Rounding off the release is the most quintessential Slacker track on there - ‘Prototype’ - a cut of acid dipped, in-your-face electro; raw and uncompromising.

Everyone’s favourite bangin’ Brisbane duo X CLUB. ready up four typically in your face cuts of driving, textured techno on 1Ø PILLS MATE that have us dreaming of giant warehouses and sweaty hugs. Channeling big rave energy from grime, electro and breaks - and ultimately using this influence to texture their heavy sound - the pair take inspiration from the 90’s rave movement and contemporary experimental artists.

‘Turning A Blind Eye To This Nonsense’ delivers on the escapism it promises, staying true to the driven aesthetic that the duo have become known for; sirens blaring, deep atmospherics and uncompromising rave. Fellow Australian Mutant Joe is enlisted on ‘Silo’ - an acid dipped techno-electro workout  spawned from the depths of hell. 

The record's biggest moments arrive on ‘Beta Rays’, where both the artist's interest in sound design and sonic engineering across their respective solo projects really shines across 8 minutes of cinematic rave. Managing to capture the nostalgic rave feeling that Bicep’s ‘Glue’ channelled to roaring success, X CLUB. serve up an emotionally-driven journey that is destined to dominate sound systems around the globe.

Posthuman need no introduction. The cousin duo of Rich Bevan and Josh Doherty released a string of IDM albums on labels like Seed, Skam and B12 before turning their attention to a sound that would go on to become a staple of the artists ethos: acid.

Cyberdome follow up their debut release from Slacker with a wicked four tracker that represents the no-fuss, back to basics ethos that Posthuman hold so close. No frills, just high quality dance music. ‘Pleasure Machine’ is a squelching cut of acid-electro; robotic vocals, precise drum programming and a minimal approach crafting a track that very much defines the Posthuman aesthetic. 

The worlds of UK bassline, dub and electro meet on ‘Titan Descent’; large and ravey wubs and stripped-back production creating a minimal-styled wobbler that highlights how less can also mean more. ‘Terror Police’ sounds like its batteries might be running out - as its bassy stabs begin to slow across a classic electro beat - before finding themselves back at 100% as a defected rhythm begins to melt. 

Rounding off the release is a remix from electro royalty DMX Krew, who turns in a typically marshy cut rendition of the ‘Terror Police’ OG; a dark and creepy atmospheric journey through the Oblivion gate.

Pleasure Machine

South African born, London based producer Kai van Dongen follows up two killer releases on 1Ø PILLS MATE and Ei8ht Records with a massive four tracker on CYBERDOME spanning lo-fi electro, gabber-influenced techno and Detroit acid.

‘Command’ gets started with the typical Cyber-aesthetic; a bruising, otherworldly electro cut that sounds like it was sampled from an intergalactic star-ship battle on a galaxy not so distant. Spooky, raw and uncompromising - classic horror synth lines creating a haunting atmosphere before its pulsating rhythm brings the listener back down to earth.

‘Losing Power’ again makes use of Kai’s knack for crafting emotionally captivating synth patterns, but this time under a lo-fi identity with hefty influence from the synthwave golden era; neon shapes and patterns blooming in the night as we continue our journey into darkness. 

What sounds like an angry swarm of bees approaches on ‘Body Moving’ - a track title fit for purpose. Face-melting, brain-spinning techno creates a dark, psychedelic environment where sweat drips from the ceiling and faces react with a blend of euphoria and disgust, before we head to the Motor City on ‘Breathe’ - a cut of acid techno-electro that borrows from the icons of the past for a typically punchy and raw experience.

‘Rhythmic Trip’ is an emotional, breaksy number; meandering out of dark tones and patterns and into large vocal samples and uplifting odes to classic hardcore. 
Netil Radio resident Angel D’lite comes through in style with a wicked 150bpm lovecore remix of the Local Group original.

‘Watch This Beat’ nods to the right side of happy hardcore - its chipmunk vocals, ravey piano stabs and snappy breakbeats providing plenty of gun-finger induced, rush-in-the-rave moments - before ‘Work That Thing’ closes the door with a scratch-sampled cut of electro that sounds like it was taken from the middle of a Jerome Hill set.

Sydney and Munich based duo Pinz & Pelz first met in Melbourne 2018 and have since gone on to release stellar projects exploring everything from deep chugging delights to blissed out breaks and house. Now the unique pairing make their debut on the Lobster Theremin affiliated 1Ø Pills Mate, delving further into the darker side of dance music. 

Opening track ‘Now In The Ether’ sets the pace; as the duo's affiliation for rave combined with a shadowy backdrop of low-slung percussion make for a whirlwind of kinetic dance-floor energy. ‘Minotaur’ closely follows suit with another heavy dose of time-less techno. This time the track's interlude adds a new element entirely, as atmospherics flirt with electro before being transported front-left once again. 

‘Superposition’ mixes powerful percussion with a blend of squelchy 303s and alien electronics, seemingly signalling to a far away galaxy, before ‘When We Are Entwined’ closes the curtain with a hypnotic heads-down banger with a psychoactive twist.

Never one to be pigeonholed by genre, Parisian producer MiG-29 has been collecting records for nearly two decades now, extending his musical spectrum into disco, drum and bass, electro, breaks and progressive trance. His 90’s inspired productions have found their way onto labels such as La Chinerie, and now he joins the CYBERDOME family with 6 deep cuts that illustrate the artist's personal eclecticism. 

‘New Generation’ is a kaleidoscopic journey down the breakbeat river; soft pads, deep grooves and tripped-out electronics sound creating a deadly blend of MiG-29 influence. ‘Water Visions’ sticks with the deep aesthetic, this time opting for a techy progressive approach, with just enough trancey hands-in-the-air moments to keep the ravers wide-eyed.

As tempo slowly moves forward, ‘Spacer Worlds’ takes us on an intergalactic voyage through distant galaxies, its 4x4 bassweight crafting an epic dance tool, before the mood is completely flipped on the carnival-esque, trip-hop of ‘Tomorrow’s Bliss’.

Emerging Italian producer D3070 shares his name with a type of flamethrower; quite apt given the amount of flame emojis that have been dropped in the comments sections of where his debut release on CYBERDOME has been teased.
Staying true to the Cyber aesthetic, ‘Booster’ is a melting cut of dungeon electro; oozing with bright, neon sludge which - once consumed - takes its hold on the individual by driving them into a dancing frenzy. ‘Voyager 1’ is a dreamier trip; ambient leaning, but with that signature doomed-out funk.
‘Deep Impact’ plays out like an unauthorised lining on a otherworldly space rock; brimming with intrigue, mystery and slow-mo, anti-gravity textures, before ‘New Era’ signals the dawning of a fresh, ethereal start through its scattered breaks and transcendental inspiration.
‘Humint’ finally brings us back down to earth as we venture back downstairs towards the darkness; a fitting start to the young artists back catalogue.

Glasgow producer Jai Dee debuts on 1Ø Pills Mate following a string of hot airwave teasers on DJ Haus’ Unknown To Unknown Rinse FM show and Tim & Barry TV’s NTS show. 

Kicking us off is an emotional cut of happycore; brimming with dense keys, hardcore aesthetics and sweaty hug energy, and this mood pours into ‘Free Falling Into Darkness’ as the warehouse rave feel explodes in a cloud of acid smiley’s and breakbeats.

Stepping out of the darkness and into the light, ‘Beyond Crystal Rain’ quite literally sounds like thousands of gems smashing into the ground below; it’s ethereal synth patterns and otherworldly textures providing a sonic outer-body experience. This transcendence continues on the 140 mix of ‘Inner Wall Of The Oort Cloud’; uplifting atmospherics and heart-string tugging vocal samples creating a vibe that’s both dreamy and tense.

The original mix steps firmly on the accelerator as we venture into 160 territory, before ‘Dystopian Chaos’ bows out with a psychedelic cut of beatless scoring; a spellbinding journey though the rainbow time warp that’s as colourful and inspired as you can imagine.

Cardiovascular tugging, euro-dance energy from Berlin based DJ HEARTSTRING on 1Ø PILLS MATE; for the lovers, the listeners and the trancers. Uniting the worlds of donk, euro-dance, trance and techno, the emerging producer is less concerned with opinions of the chin-stroking purists and more concerned with fun - crafting sensual and infectious pop-techno bangers that have fun firmly on  the menu.

‘Lost In Emotion’ begins with a deep, heads down approach, lending influence from the pop melodies of artists such as Marlon Hoffstadt and his Midnight Themes label but with a headsy, underground appeal. ‘In Der Nacht’ follows in similar passion - inspiring images of that club scene from Blade - a vampirish, dark and distinctly Berlin twist on the typical trance aesthetic.

‘Bubby Paradise’ trades the darkness for bubblegum, arcade soundscapes that could score a pixelated, arcade racer before we are transatlantically beamed to the carnival of Brazil’s capital; ‘São Paulo Fever’ giving Latin-American rhythms the signature Heartstring blend.

ATL via NYC producer Xiorro follows up his killer release on Brooklyn based label Sorry Records with four slabs of ravey industrial concrete on 1Ø PILLS MATE. Co-founding ALKHEMY - a collective whose genesis is dedicated to spreading diversity within techno and making space for marginalised, people of colour and women to play - their The Black Hole parties have helped to re-shape the NYC soundscape.

‘Zemi Of A Riot’ begins with a surprisingly familiar sample before diving straight into a bass-driven, unrelenting groove. An instant curve-ball designed to delight and startle, it’s an off-road space jam hurtling through a multi-verse of dark clubs and asteroid fields. ‘Pa’ Que Brinquen’ turns the space rocks to goo with its frantic, melting analog patterns and hardcore aeshetic, striking a perfect balance between otherworldly and organic.

‘Tooth and Nail’ is an evocative cut of heads-down energy; a total surrender to the mundane that exists outside the walls of right now, hypnotic, groove-focused techno that’s as bassy as it is heavy. Belgium based French producer Julian Muller caps the release off with a punchy remix of ‘Pa’ Que Brinquen’, pushing the tempo slightly higher with a piece of trance-licked techno.

Chromatic Meteor Shower

1ØPILLS024 // Xiorro - Chromatic Meteor Shower

Following contributions to Manchester based label Chequered Wax and an emotionally elevated weapon on Groove Estate Records in June last year, 1ØPILLS025 Sees Eyerate continue to explore the outer limits of techno, trance and future-facing club; in an EP both clinical and entrancing. 

The Norwich based producer wastes no time with a thunderous opening on ‘Undone’ - a kick-drum enthralled in reverb and so heavy, it’s destined to blow the roof off any club system. Rave painted tabs and underlining atmospherics give the track an even greater sense of largeness; best heard in dark corners with high-ceilings. A masterclass in contrast ‘IDK You’ bulldozes through with its threatening, industrial tone; its peripheral vision absorbed in light, as lasers shoot straight ahead. 

‘Twenty Angels’ aptly follows-suit with its knee-jerking grooves and pace setting enthusiasm. The track's beauty comes from how it muses between hypnotic states of consciousness and raw, untethered energy. The record's arc comes to an end in ‘Youth Eternal’ touching on everything from trippy 303s to emotionally charged trance and techno; in a club-facing track made for journeying.

1ØPILLS025 // Eyerate - Twenty Angels EP

Hot on the heels of last year's Dear Diary EP on Lobster Theremin, explosive performances on HÖR and an intimate interview with celebrated German publication Groove Magazine, frequent Berlin & Leipzig DJ Narciss comes through with four deep and groovy cuts of bass-driven techno.

‘Feather Boa Constrictor’ features one of Copenhagen’s most exciting emerging producers in recent years - Vixen - fresh off her own acclaimed release, Hard Magik For Soft Souls, on Lobster Theremin in December. Now the pair link up on the DJ Mag Breakthrough Label of the Year imprint that blends all the best elements of the Berlin and Copenhagen scenes in a high-speed trip through psy-trance, synth-wave and techno.

Narciss is on his ones as we enter the A2; ‘Lovechild (Outrun Mix) is aptly named with its reference to the 1986 arcade game Outrun, which featured some of the best video-game music to ever be created. Deep basslines, swirling synth-stabs and a soothing deepness and contemplativeness that can only come with driving a virtual car down a never-ending highway.

‘Tokyo’ makes use of polyrhythms and textures blended with what sounds like an old Sampha record. It’s a wonderful combination of dark, deep and forward-thinking sound, before Copenhagen producer Repro comes through with a typically EBM-focused remix combining elements of every track.

Dreamcast EP

DJ Different dons his Terraform alias as he begins his journey in ‘Entering The Void’ on CYBERDOME; exploring phat electro bass-lines and party-starting ghettotech energy with its crosshairs fixated firmly on the club environment.

Born and raised in the culturally rich city of Malmo, the Swedish producer has previously released on London based label Deeply Cultured, Distant Hawaii, Mood Of Era, 1Ø PILLS MATE and Traxx Underground, spanning atmospheric techno, ethereal breakbeat and chunky electro.

‘Ultrasonic’ is an ear-wriggling cut of stripped-back psychedelia. As David Holmes would say, all the best electronic music tracks are made up of only a few components. Here, typical electro synth stabs, robotic vocal sampling and sparse precision allows the track room to breathe, whilst maintaining a deep and funk-driven groove.

‘Ghettotech’ sounds how you would expect it to; pounding kicks, frantic atmospherics and lairy screw-face hype combine on a certified fire-starter, before ‘Exiting The Void’ introduces itself on a footwork vibe that evolves into a sequence of interstellar-dungeon dub-electro.

‘The Rise of the Slavs’ takes its inspiration from the diverse group of tribes who lived in Central and Eastern Europe in the 6th to 10th centuries, establishing the foundations for the Slavic nations; it’s marching rhythm beaming historical context into 21st Century dance music.

Entering The Void

Born and raised in the heart of the French Alps, and now residing in Paris, DJ Physical’s sound is one of a harsh romance. Perhaps it was the beauty and serenity of the snow-covered mountain tops and the ferocious nature of French techno moulding together that spawned his ‘Raw Poetry’ aesthetic; an emotive blend of dark and light that feels like it could belong in concert halls and theatres as well as underground sex clubs.

Following an outing on Lobster Theremin’s recent various artist fundraiser for Ukraine, and appearances on Rinse France and Running Out Of Steam, the Parisian local serves up five deadly cuts of brooding electro and techno.

‘Not So Human’ delivers the influence of trance on the contemporary techno soundscape, but doesn’t over-do it. Trance-licked, not dominated, the uncompromising cut of wave-driven techno is the perfect accompaniment for when you want to take things up a notch. ‘Sex Club’ maintains DJ Physicals’ fascination with ‘Raw Poetry’ - brimming with breaks-driven breakdowns, spine-tingling atmospherics and low-pressure basslines that highlight the variety of influence the emerging producer brings to the table.

Acid synth-lines and lively trance-inspo create an altogether lighter mood as we flip the record on ‘Mortal Dance’, before ‘Easy Dancer’ changes its tune altogether with a pounding cut of progressive, freaky electronica.

Closing the release is ‘Go Further’ - misty electro, Southern-trap samples and those distinctive, high-culture ambient interludes creating a sense of emotive mystery. A well-rounded release with plenty of left-turns, this is DJ Physical’s ‘Raw Poetry’ at its finest.

Justin Jay is an artist who refuses to be put in a box: he's been a staple of the California based Dirtybird Records, started his own indie band and affiliated record label - Fantastic Voyage, and recently released a string of eclectic, forward-thinking club EP's on Scuffed, Time Is Now & Childsplay.

Both in his productions & DJ sets, Justin is constantly exploring new styles & genres; often weaving together a rollercoaster-like blend of sounds & bpm's. On his 1ØPILLS debut, he highlights his love for nostalgic 90s rave, trance & techno.

The A-side, "My First Trance," features blissed-out, classic Ibiza sounds blended with arcade nostalgia on a raised tempo, bringing with it images of distant suns melting into the ocean. ‘Warp’ exists as its polar opposite - a damaging cut of hardcore-inspired broken-techno that takes the frantic energy of a chopped 90s jungle vocal and places it on a 4x4 rhythm.

Existing somewhere between the energies of classic Chicago house and classic Chicago footwork, ‘Believe’ is a fast, stripped-back groove that says less is more. Paradise Garage on speed, it’s as nostalgic as it is contemporary. ‘5G’ closes the EP with a sequence of bleeps, bloops and hypnotic-techno designed to be lost in.

French techno producer Julian Muller skilfully demonstrates his versatility and takes us on a wild ride through trance, techno, rave & dnb on the Flower Coaster EP on 1Ø PILLS MATE.

Opening the record is Last Minute Train, a dream-like, ethereal introduction before we get into the thumping trance-hybrid Wet Coast and pulsing rave cut Juicy. On the flip the sizzling percussion & floaty synths of Escape set pace,  before the raw energy of Until The Sun Goes Down and the fluid breaks and buttery vocals of Right There.
