Fear-E kicks off his brand new imprint Posh End Music with an EP from the man himself. His 'A New Era' EP features 5 original cuts exploring the boundaries of his unique rough and ready sound.

Opening the record is Scotts personal tribute to Paul Johnson in 'PJ the King', an artist who has had a foundational influence on the music we make today, and sadly passed away recently.

Following that 'I'm Gonna Dist You Right Now' is a twist on the classic Acid formula, machine rhythm, and an addictive acid-line. Whereas 'ReZerection' flips the rhythm onto a more syncopated base - as always with Fear-E it's this variation in his sound and ability to keep it fresh which brings the pack together.

Rounding out the record are two more belters - 'Tom Tom Club' lets things get a bit more synthy and squelchy but still with the signature tight rhythmic energy, and lastly we have the first collaboration between Fear-E and Glasgow DJ/Producer Dave Shades under his alias DAIYE, their track 'I've Got Nothing Left' evolves the stripped-back banger form, and certainly doesn't spare the horses in getting you there.

Berlin’s Open Music Lab is back with their second release: Quanta, out on 26-FEB-2022. We're excited to premiere one of the forthcoming contributions by morphena. 

morphena is an Argentinian-born emerging DJ and producer and has been a long-time student of OML and recently started becoming a mentor herself for new students. morphena describes the track as her first production where she can “imprint a hybrid between a club track and a song”, while keeping the lyrics as the main focus and center of the track - listen & support <3  

Open Music Lab: 
The OML label was born out of a supportive community of creatives from various backgrounds and abilities. It offers an opportunity for people to engage with unique blends of musical sounds that are enriched by different cultures and lived experiences. Quanta showcases the music and work of some of OML’s most committed students and mentors. This unique release shows the range of talent at OML and the musical bond and creative collaboration that comes out of the community. Each track on the release is produced by an OML student and is accompanied by a remixed version from their mentors.

HEAR/FIRST: morphena - Surviving My Gaze [OML002]

DJ Different dons his Terraform alias as he begins his journey in ‘Entering The Void’ on CYBERDOME; exploring phat electro bass-lines and party-starting ghettotech energy with its crosshairs fixated firmly on the club environment.

Born and raised in the culturally rich city of Malmo, the Swedish producer has previously released on London based label Deeply Cultured, Distant Hawaii, Mood Of Era, 1Ø PILLS MATE and Traxx Underground, spanning atmospheric techno, ethereal breakbeat and chunky electro.

‘Ultrasonic’ is an ear-wriggling cut of stripped-back psychedelia. As David Holmes would say, all the best electronic music tracks are made up of only a few components. Here, typical electro synth stabs, robotic vocal sampling and sparse precision allows the track room to breathe, whilst maintaining a deep and funk-driven groove.

‘Ghettotech’ sounds how you would expect it to; pounding kicks, frantic atmospherics and lairy screw-face hype combine on a certified fire-starter, before ‘Exiting The Void’ introduces itself on a footwork vibe that evolves into a sequence of interstellar-dungeon dub-electro.

‘The Rise of the Slavs’ takes its inspiration from the diverse group of tribes who lived in Central and Eastern Europe in the 6th to 10th centuries, establishing the foundations for the Slavic nations; it’s marching rhythm beaming historical context into 21st Century dance music.

The second strike of Leipzig’s new electro offshoot sets Friedrich Ernst on the offensive. With these four new tracks he progressed his sound signature from a playful but reflected 8bit world soundtrack on SELF001 to a firm and gritty b-boy attitude. With SELF002 the do-it-yourself label team of DJ Unisex and Friedrich Ernst back up nothing less than their label mission: "We believe in the human mind as a self-learning system" – and it has the basement dance in the eye.

Classic electro otakus will parté about the succinct elements that fits each other seamlessly on Class Beat while the groove remains alert and phantasmagoric.

Back 2 The Ol_ Skool invites two breakdance crews to battle out who owns the floor: the pale electro robot boys on the left and the hoover sound loving UK hardcore girls on the right.

Wildstyle is the living proof that a tight 808 groove still smashes especially hard when complimented with a proper breakbeat. Best played loud and from vinyl.

The last bit of the whole enchilada is almost tranquilizing until you realise how far your stone rolled already. Rhythm Control is a crowd pleaser with endless qualities.

Collaboration partner Dominik Widmann delivers the stunning artwork for their ongoing conceptual series with his acrylic paintings. Included as A2 inlay print in every record.

In contrast to their previous EP’s, ‘Xenolith’ ups the intensity focusing on rugged breakbeats and destructive low end pressure. Across four tracks the duo experiment at different tempos, unearthing a myriad of themes inspired by forensic analysis and autonomous technological forces. Like alloys mysteriously grown from ore, fragmented artefacts of familiar origin take on new meaning. ‘Xenolith’ is bound together by complex and dystopian atmospheres forging perhaps Tracing Xircles most intriguing record so far.
