A cadre of Chicago makers formed in 2008.  Panoptico sought happiness through playful transparency until officially disbanding in early 2011.  Contributing members include Matt Palenske, Chris Wiersema, Clark Post, John Thompson, Jim Schultz, Phil Lubs, and Jenna Boelens.

Rhythm. Volume. Bliss. A Collective Subconscious is known for delivering a powerful multi-media performance. Themes of greed, consumerism, and carelessness are contrasted with the inherent balance and beauty of the natural world. Through instrumentals and visuals, the band aims to explore human consciousness: art, thought, emotion, religion, politics, culture, and dreams. 

A Collective Subconscious is an amalgamation of heavy-hitting drums and distorted bass, rich layers of guitars and effects, heightened into the atmosphere by pillowy keys and cosmic synth. Influences include early Post-Rock, Southern Sludge, Pacific Northwest Doom, Psychedelic,  Math-Rock, and New Orleans Jazz.
