RayCrisis is a game that has fascinated me for years; I'd played RayStorm a lot growing up, thanks to its inclusion on Taito Legends 2, but RayCrisis eluded me for years, forcing me to subsist on playthroughs recorded by other people, reading The Deepest Lore™ on various wikis and fanpages, and listening to the soundtrack over and over again. I was enamoured with it, from its status as a prequel to the rest of the series story wise (detailing the early years of the Con-Human computer's decimation of earth following its disatrous fusion with a human clone), the fact that its effectively set inside Con-Human itself (that's right, its a cyberspace story, baby!), and the slightly randomised gameplay (its five levels long, but levels 2 through 4 can be any of five possible stages, mixed up in almost every possible permutation to make 42 total "maps"- which you can only freely select when you've played through every one once; the name you enter at the start of the game acts as a password that saves your progress, so you can pick up where you left off), the enchroachment mechanic (a percentage meter continuously ticks up to 100%, starting from 50%, and shooting down enemies lowers it- if it reaches 100% you're forced into a fight with the final boss at maxed out difficulty), and the tightening of the gameplay the series was already know for. A lot of these aspectss make it a contentious entry in the series for many, but having now actually played itself, I can confirm; it whips ass. I even recorded a replay of my personal best run/high score, ableit in scuff-o-vision, that's how In on this game I am.

And oh, the music. Tamayo Kawamoto's work on the series is legendary, and for good reason; its all phenomenally catchy, masterfully blending complex arrangements with memorable melodies, and is all done in an incredibly synthy style that blends 80s and 90s sensibilities together. For RayCrisis, though, she infused a few tracks with Drum & Bass/Jungle elements, and due in part to the nature of how stages work, created four long pieces of music that play over most of the game (with whichever one you get being dependent on what stage your map starts on), and they're absolutely fantastic- Son Dessein (also known as "Her Objective") is possibly my favourite song in the entire franchise.

But of course, now that I'm able to play it myself, there's one song I've heard a lot in particular; the code entry/map select/ship select music, There Is No Sense Unless Everything Is Arranger Completely (i think that's meant to be "arranged", but the typo has persisted; a straight translation of the japanese title renders it as "99% is no good, it has to be 100%" so, eh, close enough). Thank god its a suitibly catchy and moody piece of music! I love it; 80s synths- including synthesized guitars- over rolling amen breaks. The arranged version from the RayCrisis Rayons de l'Air remix album, which has real guitars, also kicks ass. I've loved the tune since I first listened to the soundtrack years before playing the game.

So, on a whim, I remixed it. Y'all know I don't do many remixes, as I find it a lot harder and more time consuming then writing original pieces, so it either has to be something I'm hired or asked to do, or the song has to be real special to me.

My version of the tune ups the BPM, generally leans more towards the 90s end of synth patch choices, keeps the real guitars (by way of one-note samples and a loop), adds in a greater variety of layered drum & bass breaks (each section has two breakbeat samples layered over each other), and includes a little introductory section. I also slightly changed up the melodies and progression a bit, but not enough for it to not sound like the original tune. I'm really happy with it, honestly- it was only ever meant to be a bit of fun, and the result reflects that I think. As it's a shorter piece, I loop it once before fading it out.
