Sunshine Temptation. The sunny temptation consists of a 100% natural orange juice, which is available at the release party. The track is an ode to the progressive house era of the 1990s, shining in a modern context.  

Snippets from commercials, rippling water and birdsong form the bed of the song, while a tight four on the floor beat with iconic 909 drums and a bouncy bassline set the pace. Breakbeats, bongos and recorded leads, straight from a 1984 Casio synth, take you back to the age when the internet made dial-up noises before you could visit colorful websites via Netscape.

Force Mass Motion drops two remastered Friskee gems along with two previously unreleased cuts from the 90s project
DAT finds Vapour Trails’ and ‘One Piano’ accompany the remasters of rave classics ‘The Brain Is’ and ‘Virtually You’

Force Mass Motion’s rave Friskee project from the 90s has seen a feverish renewed interest over the past few years. Released initially on FUK Stereophonic Gramophone in 1997, the tracks are remastered and join two previously unheard cuts from the project that were found in a box of DATs and thought lost to time.

Opener 'The Brain Is' is a mix of wiry electronics featuring blissed-out ambient synths with turbocharged beats. Add in progressive techno melodies that will get the floor pumping and you have a widescreen and atmospheric gem. The brilliant 'Virtually You' is an almost eight-minute trip with elastic basslines and bouncing drums all doused in lush cosmically minded pads and starry-eyed melodies that have you gazing off into the future. 'Vapour Trails' then gets a little deeper and heads down with warming pads and waves of subtle vocal cries that make the skin tingle. It's a physical yet sensuous sound, and last of all, 'One Piano' brings hints of trance and prog to the thudding drums and fizzled synths, which all surge through a late night sky with a great sense of poignancy and artful craft.

Mike Wells is the man behind the Force Mass Motion project, drawing on years of experience as an underground DJ, producer, and label owner. In his storied career, he has done it all, from helping to shape the sound of rave, UK hardcore, and jungle to pioneering the nu-school breaks sound. His music has come on esteemed like Mute, Rabbit City, Lot49 and Kingsize Records and now on his own Force Mass Motion Recordings.

The sounds that have emanated from little London-based house label, LB Produce, thus far have been modest, occulted by the label’s own mystery (only a mere 100 or so know of their existence, so it seems), yet they never fail to set proverbial fire to the dancefloor.

The helm is now overtaken by Ron Obvious – when not being played by Terry Jones in Monty Python – for the vinyl-only imprint’s third release: a four-track EP of sweltering house tracks, all equally as dark and recondite in nature. The highlight here is “I Keep Down”. With a vocal snippet, heavy on the reverb, opening the track with a blasé “My name is Ron Obvious”, gradual MIDI layering of tinny hi-hats and kaleidoscopic synthesiser melodies, the track pays clear homage to the distinctive timbres of mid-1980s Chicago and Detroit in their most orthodox forms. A considerable feat, achieved by Obvious both convincingly and respectfully.
