Moodymann - I Can't Kick This Feeling When It Hits (1996)

Having already proven that he is capable of maintaining sonic quality and distinction over the course of a full original program, Chevel (a.k.a. Dario Tronchin) now makes his LP debut for Stroboscopic Artefacts. His other S.A. contributions (including the inaugural entry in the label's singular Monad series, the "One Month Off" EP, his participation to the label's five-year retrospective series) have already hinted that a more complete exposition of his unique inner world would surface, and here it is at last.
Over the course of his young career, Chevel has gained a mastery over several compositional elements: Polaroid-like slow melodic fades, sharp ricocheting beats, and simply making one's headphones feel like a viable means of physical transportation. All of these elements come into play shortly after the needle hits the grooves of ‘Comb’ a euphoric introductory track marked by a spectral panning sequence and by beats chopped with a culinary expert's sense of elegance. The drum kit sounds that feature throughout are used sparely but - either because of this or in spite of this - provide maximum impact upon the listener's nervous system. The almost 'far Eastern' use of 'block' percussion on ‘The Windrunner’ and ‘Low Roof’ perfectly complements the synthetic sheen produced by fuzz distortion, radio static and bandpass-filtered sound bites, taking us to a terrain where a palette of decay effects provides just as much aesthetic inspiration as the presence of technological advancement.
There is more than enough humor and playfulness at work here, too, helping to once again banish the persistent stereotype of the modern techno producer as a sterile technician: the queasy melody line, sliced-and-diced whistling and gelatinous bounce of ‘Loop #33’ evoke a child's wonderment at playtime more than they do the rarefied rigour of the laboratory. The less pulsating numbers like ‘Loop #42’ and the closing ‘A Form of Love’ will engage the listener as well, being like short audio films of abiogenesis (i.e. spontaneous generation of life from 'non-living' material) taking place. These tracks are not so much 'interludes' or contemplative retreats from the action as they are enhancers of it, utilizing fluttering cycles of melody to engage in a kind of conversation with the more driving tracks. As to the 'driving' tracks themselves: the places that they drive the listener to are satisfyingly beyond customary experience.
In other words, despite Chevel's keeping the sonic toolkit and overall atmosphere consistent from track to track, there is a rich variety in the emotional affectivity on display here. The net effect is like a dream state that leaves strong impressions even though one can't pinpoint exactly why they are doing so (and which leaves one wanting to dive back into the dream pool and experience something similar again.) This is a talent that unifies the diverse constellation of Stroboscopic Artefacts producers, and one that makes Chevel in particular one to continue watching, listening to, and experiencing.

Tresor Records is proud to welcome Shao Yanpeng, the first Chinese artist to enter the label’s star-studded roster. Shao is based in Being, China, where he has been making electronic music since 2002, and pursues his career as a producer and successful sound designer.

With 'Doppler Shift Pt.1’ Shao continues to experiment with various facets of electronic music. On the A-side, 'Sensi' dives straight into feverish synth work which halts into a suspenseful ascension to the climax. On the flip, 'Reflection Pt.2' takes on a more serene atmosphere slowly building and adding textures as the track progresses into a meticulously built composition. The digital bonus track 'Reflection Pt.1' follows the same arrangement with a darker and more crude attitude.

B. Shao - Reflection Pt.2

Following the release of the ‘Extraction’ and ‘Hydraulic Pressure’ 12”s earlier this year, Adventice – the incendiary collaboration between DJ Deep and Roman Poncet, returns to Tresor.

While taking the groove up quite a few notches, and as per its two predecessors, ‘Exsurgence’ unfolds in three different versions around a common theme.
The ‘Main Mix’ opens into hammering chords yet taking a delicate turn into an synth-heavy refrain.

On the flip, the ‘Reduced Mix’ follows the same composition while playful and cinematic as the use of hihats add a skip to your step and pick up the pace. The ‘Percussive Mix’ and its rapid drum patterns, exude a fragrance of vocals triggering endless soundscapes.

With this new three track single, DJ Deep and Roman Poncet deliver a fierce package, another warning for what is still to come for the duo.

B1. Adventice - Exsurgence (Reduced Mix)



Tresor Records proudly presents the second chapter in Mønic’s musical journey on the label. Head of Osiris Music, Mønic is an accomplished producer whose style can be defined as raw yet exceptionally refined, allowing for a certain industrial inspiration to ooze from his exquisite sound design.
Also known as Simon Shreeve, he recently released a new record on Regis' legendary Downwards label.

‘Four Sides Of Truth’ opens a conversation between pristenely defined low frequencies and an infinity of fleeting, chirping synth layers. This discussion will continue throughout the record, taking additional drums into the exchange and swirling into ‘Point To The Sun’ in full panning effect.

On the other side, lower frequencies undoubtedly take over and win the argument in ‘Self Doubt Is Worthless’. UK-based Kamikaze Space Programme contributes with a revisited version of ‘Morse’, initially released on the Parsons Hill EP. Preserving the abrasive textures of the original, KSP dramatically raises the track’s thrill factor.

Originally released on vinyl by R&S in 1994, ‘Meditation Will Manifest’ was re-earthed in 2016 by Nina Kraviz and Ricardo Villalobos, becoming a secret weapon on dancefloors 22 years after its original release. On December 16, ‘Meditation Will Manifest’ gets its first digital release on R&S.
 
Josh Wink has always been ahead of musical trends and walks his own path in dance music. From a young age Wink was exposed to different mysticism and consciousness philosophies. “It wasn’t a big, popular or trendy thing to do at the time, but I was 14 and just did what my mother did… Releasing tracks like ‘Meditation Will Manifest’ and ‘Higher States of Consciousness’, people looked at me as being this deeply profound spiritual guy, but I never really thought about it in that way, even though I’m really into repetitive, transcendental and meditative rhythms. Taking charge of ZEHNIN01 is Lucy, who has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. Whether he is acting in the role of producer, DJ, performer, or Stroboscopic Artefacts’ curator, Lucy’s clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in.

EP opener ‘The Hermit’ is eight minutes of spacious and cerebral techno. Rolling drums are buried deep as little flecks of sound design peel off the groove. Occasional bell hits bring a sombre and languid feel despite the drive of the drums, and it is the sort of perfectly absorbing track that will suck you down a 5am rabbit hole.

On the flip, ‘The High Priestess’ is a similarly mental work out that is empty and eerie, with distant drones and yawning pads outlining a vast underground space. The drums here are again rubbery and rolling, but a little more prominent, and the whole thing manages to be both soothing and unsettling.

Zenker Brothers "Monoptahras" [First Floor Premiere]

DDD Records is a store and a label based in Paris. The label’s LMR catalog category is used for releases that are focused on remixing music from the very first vinyl releases from the 1980s by under-rated French electronic music producer Luc Marianni.
Giegling artist Vril uses samples from Marianni’s Six Synthetic Suites released in 1986 to produce this lovely slab of dub techno. Carefully crafted, this track is all about soft edges, with a kind of blurry and hazy vibe that permeates it. A sense of motion is conveyed by the sparse but efficient rhythmic section, with chords and melodic elements giving the impression of floating. With much more contrast and complexity than it might seem at first listen, this is beyond your usual dub techno cut.

Finally I present you the 5th year anniversary compilation. After months I am glad to release this amazing album. Celebrating 

I never thought that this podcast I started in 2013 would't reach it's fifth year. Starting from scratch to more then 200 chapters of the most amazing music outthere. Mostly dubtechno, ambient with the Ambient Sessions, hypnotic techno and everything in between has crossed these 5 years. releasing 27 EP's and 5 compilations. Even the Special releases are Highly recommended. After this release @discophone will makes his debute on Deep Electronics with his album Utu. Also Ataxy is scheduled with a very strong and deep ambient EP. 

50% of the price from the upcoming compilation will go to charity. The local Animal Ambulance here in my hometown Den Helder. They help injured animals no matter what kind. From dogs, cats, birds even seals and in rare cases porpoises. They help animals 24/7 and they are completely dependent on volunteers, donations and gifts. With this compilation I would like to help them in there work in rescue wounded and sick animals and there help in providing support to there owners.
