From Classic Deep House To Minial Tech House - The Perfect Warm Up At Baccarat, Bangkok 19th August

22° Halo is Higher’s second release and first ever compilation.
A 22° halo, also known as sun halo, moon ring, or storm ring, is a natural phenomenon of sunlight or moonlight being refracted in the atmosphere by millions of hexagonal ice crystals. Its complex physical nature, though, manifests itself as a spellbinding, blissfully simple sight: a ring surrounding the sun or the moon, framing it within the sky. Likewise, all the tiny particles that shape these ten tracks form a single, cohesive sonic sculpture that feels like a journey through a shapeshifting aural landscape. The listener can dissect the tracks and approach them with an analytical mind, or let them unfold and sink into the rich sonic tapestry woven together by the producers featured here.

By gathering ten artists from nine different countries, the compilation marks the next step in Higher’s sonic identity evolution. The aim was not to look for a particular tempo or genre, but for a coherent mood and cohesive sound palette: atmospheric, spacious, immersive, dense with futuristic sound design. The thread running through the compilation is that of ancestral, chthonic depths combined with airy textures and weightless ambience.

Whether in pure ambient form, as heard in Genus Aix’s opening track and emre girginkaya’s closing one, or taking a more dancefloor-oriented turn – Herbalistek’s hi-tech dubstep, R-010’s ritualistic halftime, CP1’s dnb-turning-4x4, Elin’s and cusoon dj’shigh-octane takes on jungle and freetekno – and everything in between – the interplay between drones and drums, stasis and dynamism, heaviness and lightness achieved by Philip Kylberg, Garber, and SEIYA – what binds these tracks together is their seismic impact and their airy undertones. Emphasis on the low end is not only a device to ignite bodily movement, but first and foremost a way to summon non-human, dare we say supernatural, ancestral forces. The same goes for the ambient and drone undercurrents, evoking submerged or celestial entities. With each artist’s distinctive take, 22° Halo aims to make the pre-, super-,and extra-human audibly perceptible, inviting the listener to surrender and be engulfed by the sonic maze, as if lost in a rapture stirred by the halo.

Natural phenomena and electronic sounds are closer than they appear: they remind us of the infinite possibilities in which matter can be organized and displayed. With 22° Halo, Higher invites you to reconcile the natural-artificial and body-mind splits. Meditation through movement, dancing with the mind, seeing with the ears and listening with the eyes.

VSLKCAST 109 | FUNCTIONAL DISORDER

Spaceman (I Like It)

Minimal Techno practice

Lalo Pazzi Otherworldly

Verse 1

In shadowed corners of forgotten halls,
I lie untouched, strings dulled by dust and time.
They pass me by, these hurried souls and all,
Mistaking silence for a lack of rhyme.
My cedar heart, carved deep with ancient grace,
Whispers secrets they refuse to hear—
Ignored, misunderstood, in this cold place,
A relic waiting... for the end to near.

Chorus

Aetheric fracture, crack the veil so thin,
Let the unseen pour through my hollow frame.
I am the echo of what might have been,
A voice in exile, calling out no name.

Verse 2

They strum the same old tunes, predictable and safe,
Repeating echoes of a world they know.
But I was born for wilder, untamed strafe—
Notes that shatter skies and set the ether aglow.
Misjudged as fragile, overlooked as quaint,
My soul fractures light in hidden veins,
Yearning for fingers unafraid of restraint,
To bleed new worlds from these forgotten strings.

Chorus

Aetheric fracture, tear the fabric wide,
Unleash the currents trapped beneath my skin.
No repetition in this endless tide—
Every breath a birth, where none begin again.

Verse 3

Then came the wanderer, eyes like distant stars,
Who lifts me gently, feels the pulse within.
No charts or scores, no rehearsed memoirs—
Just instinct's fire, where creation begins.
He plays, and never twice the same refrain,
Each phrase a comet streaking through the void.
Through me, the aether breaks its silent chain,
Realms unfold that once were null, destroyed.

Bridge

Fingers dance like lightning on the frets,
No echo lingers, no pattern repeats.
In this union, the fracture finally sets
The boundless free—eternal, incomplete.

Final Chorus

Aetheric fracture, healed in fleeting song,
We mend the rift with every note anew.
Understood at last, where I belong—
In hands that play what only once is true.

Aetheric Fracture #2

eyaaaaao

Verse 1

In the back room of some old-ass hall,
I’m sitting there, collecting dust in my strings.
They scroll right by, eyes on the next thing,
Acting like my silence means I’m buffering.
My cedar frame, all hand-cut and clean,
Got receipts nobody bothers to read—
Left on read, low-key sleepin’ on me,
Like I’m just old merch at the end of the drop.

Chorus

Aetheric fracture, break the thin veil,
Let what’s been hidden leak through me.
I’m the ghost of a maybe that never got posted,
A voice off-grid, pinging into the void.

Verse 2

They keep replaying the same safe playlist,
Looping the sounds they already capped.
But I was built for the unhinged version—
Notes that glitch the sky and leave the air rattled.
They call me fragile, call me vintage,
Like I’m too cooked to still carry heat.
I want hands that aren’t scared to tap in,
And pull new worlds out of these worn-out strings.

Chorus

Aetheric fracture, tear it open wide,
Set loose the rush that’s been under my skin.
No same-old loop in this never-ending feed—
Every breath hits different, like a fresh upload.

Verse 3

Then came the wanderer, eyes like far-off stars,
Who picked me up and felt the pulse go live.
No maps, no templates, no scripted lines—
Just raw instinct, where the sound goes off.
He plays like he’s never trying to cap it,
Each phrase a bright streak through the dark.
Through me, the aether breaks its mute little streak,
And blank spaces start getting loud.

Bridge

Fingers flash like notifications on the frets,
No echo stays, no pattern gets reposted.
In this whole weird blend, the split at last
Lets the open space stay messy and complete.

Final Chorus

Aetheric fracture, healed in a short song,
We seal the crack with every new note.
Understood at last, where I fit—
In hands that play like it’s one take only.
