Ambient Mix April 2024

Veelargo is a Spanish producer based in Krakow, Poland. His influences are very eclectic and come from many genres. The sound of artists such as Plaid, Orbital, Autechre, Aphex Twin, FSOL, Roel Funcken, Tangerine Dream, Joy Division, Depeche Mode or Oscar Mulero among many others have been a constant inspiration. Apart from his Soundcloud and Bandcamp profiles, some of his material can be found released on Mutoscope Records, People Can Listen and Artificial Intelligence Records.

Vacuum is the first fruits of this collaboration and encompasses a cross section of his approach to the tempo. Dub-wise 170 that hints at a deeper version of autonomic, but ultimately invents a new sound that only Brendon and his analogue dungeon could conjure. 30 years of mastering the art of the deep filtered through an all new tempo lens.

I made this drum machine a few years ago with very short sample times for sampling drum hits. Today I expanded the sample time to 1.5 seconds per sample and tried to make some hip hop. Not my best ever beats but what do you think about the sound? Trying to stop myself spending thousands on an SP-1200. I don't think it's quite got the vibe of an SP but it's a fun lo-fi sound.
