ndré Pahl (Berlin) is known for his Safari mixes—pitched down cinematic journeys through uncharted seas, forbidden deserts and distant galaxies.

His sound tends to oscillate between psychedelic trips, spaced out electronics and voodoo percussion, exploring the slowed-down heartbeat of danceable music.

He had a rendez-vous with Mexico City’s lunatic music scene while living there for some years, co-running the label “Nuevos Ricos” and starting to DJ in shady neighbourhood street parties and art happenings inside jammed subway stations.

Listening to André Pahl’s sets is like being compelled to push yourself inside a forest even though you know it'll be dangerous — head first, then the whole body, submerged deep into a strange jungle world, partly solid, partly made of shimmering liquids.

These field recordings listen to the sound of unceded and sacred land. I pay my respects to the Dharug people, the Gundungurra people, the Gunaikurnai people, the Boon Wurrung people, the Wurundjeri people, the Djab Wurrung and the Jardwardjali people as the Traditional Custodians of these lands, seas, skies, ecosystems, and waterways which I have been so honoured to bear witness to, listen to, and pass through.

The Lilac Island in Space is inhabitable only by auditory imagination. An ecosystem shrouded in nostalgia, memory, and all shades of purple. The original recordings from this space were destroyed in an unprecedented collision between microchip and wooden-floorboard. Now existing only as an artifact in my mind, I aim to retrace my footsteps and return to a place of past, present, and future. I hope you make your own trail to follow on this island, and find your own nook to explore.

Perhaps I’ll see you, perhaps I won’t.
