The idea for this mix came when I had to prepare a guest set for the wrk.dat programme on Radio 80k. I wanted to combine a more accessible and classic footwork sound with music that appears in the catalogues of outlines and guides labels, as well as tracks by friendly producers.

The latest from music_is comes from the italian based Korinami. The April Bourne remix of Protective Station is the 9th track on the release and epitomises the description of the release which "pass through calm and timeless places at frantic and often anxious moments. It crosses the moods of which it seeks to change, and often has to face light and dark."

Ferrer ‘Mim’ is a culture curator and music storyteller based in Mexico. https://soundcloud.com/mitaminelab, a contemporary sound archive and curatorial project, is one of her outstanding artistic projects. She also works with cultural and artistic projects doing art production and project management. Mim explores the articulation of networks of exchange, collaboration and hospitality through sound, contemporary music, digital archives and radio;  she’s currently exploring new forms of therapy with ancestral medicine, painting and mixed media.

“What was a crucial sound experience in your life?” 
Being a hypersensitive person has been pretty extreme sometimes, I always get mad and anxious with some sounds —like hearing another person chewing or car klaxons and traffic— so music has been always my comfort zone and shelter. Of course living in a city is kinda complex but I truly enjoy the urban sound experiences related with soundscapes of specific spaces and in general with ‘natural’ sound culture (or aural culture).

There's an unwritten list of friends of ours that we're often surprised haven't featured in the Forecasts yet and Mother was definitely among them. In what little sunlight our grey and puddle soaked paradise gets he's managed to cast a pretty long shadow, but given his East Kilbridian aversion to flattery or sincerity we'll stop a good bit short of describing how we actually feel about this mix and just say that it's good enough to be here.

This could really be enjoyed anywhere, but if you were thinking of doing a spot of weightlifting using the half knocked down remnants of a partition wall in a long abandoned Shopsmart then this mix is the chocolate to your digestive.

Forecast 034: Mother

Silver linings have been hard to come by recently but, against what has been a relentless year, some defiantly transcendent music has been shared.

Elin’s recent releases as loopsel are a testament to this and a reminder that, even in these bleak days, music still has the power to re-enchant life.  

This mix is truly beautiful - a deep dive into fragmented folk poetics. Welcomingly transportive, soul-nourishing, and lyrical. The purest Gothenburg magik!
