Assignment submission for Disquiet Junto Project 0573: Float Mode. Uses: "Casio PT-1 Rhumba 120bpm" by Krakenkraft. Details at disquiet.com/0573.

Built in Bitwig with help from Stepic VST. Recorded Juno 106, Moog Sub25 and guitar. Krakenkraft's Casio rhythm is mostly unaltered but I couldn't help but add a fat snare and kick to focus things. Disquiet0573 - Happy Faded Dorian Steps

My submission for Disquiet Junto Project 0575: On Ice. Followed the instruction: "record the sound of an ice cube rattling in a glass, and make something of it". This track uses only samples from a 5 minute recording I made pouring water into a few different glasses with ice and clanking the cubes around. Primary tools used were Bitwig's sampler (pitched notes) and Stepic VST (5/8 rhythms). Animating Bitwig's filter device on sequenced clanks made the tabla like drums.

Disquiet Junto Project 0576: Casual Resolution
The Assignment: Get a musical New Year’s resolution out of the way.

A musical resolution for 2023 for me is to finish tracks. Finish. More. Tracks.

My submission was at risk of becoming another 40 second WIP. But now its finished :) My approach was doing something fun, sample based and mostly in the box with heavy timeline and midi editing. No random or generative this time. And LOUD.

Here I used the provided recording of a dripping downspout. Using Bitwig's FX grid, I used this recording unaltered to provide the rhythm and tempo. With the grid, I could trigger a few different oscillators based  on when the drip sound crossed a loudness threshold.  I split the signal and passed each though different gate lengths, this dictated the frequency with which each gate could trigger a new note. Notes were pulled from a pool of choices, mostly randomly, in F minor.

I don't think I invented a new subgenre, but I choose the word "floor" (see below). This genre is all about making techno on the floor.

Floor Techno - Disquiet Junto Project 0582: X Techno

Created using only the 6 samples provided by Marcus Fischer. I used Bitwig's samplers to slice and create patterns for percussive parts or in some cases just let the original content playback in real time. I used a tempo that matched one of the lead pads from Marcus's set.
