FilosofischeStilte aka Luuk Graham was given the nickname of the Philosopher by his mom and dad. Also being the quiet type, it didn't take him long to find the perfect artist name.

The 21-year-old producer, from the city behind the Dunes, returns this Monday with "Munch Palace" Vol. 2. This second installment contains six hard hitting electronic tracks and is forthcoming on Lowriders Recordings.

Fellow Dutch producer Sam A La Bamalot found the perfect balance between vibes and thumps his remix for of the track "Lost". During the first minute you seem to very gently ease into this soulful version, but it isn't long until that haunting bass line catches up and smashes your eardrums to bits.

Captain Planet has been on a roll over the last year, with the release his acclaimed debut album “Cookin’ Gumbo”, an expansive European tour, and a steady stream of head-turning remixes for heavyweights like Ana Tijoux, Katy B, AM & Shawn Lee, The Pimps of Joytime, Scrimshire and more. Now the wayfaring dj/producer returns to Bastard Jazz for a very special cassette tape project entitled “Mystery Trip Vol. 1”.
 
Approaching the project with a classic mixtape mentality and drawing inspiration from Madlib’s “Medicine Show” series, the Captain has sourced out sounds from all corners of the globe. Obscure cuts were ripped from vinyl, then sliced, diced, chopped and skewed with a hefty injection of original production, programming and homegrown field recordings from his travels around the world.  What’s resulted is a 45 minute multi-generational sonic journey, touching on sounds from Senegal, Jamaica, Ghana, Puerto Rico, Peru, Brazil, Italy, Korea, Guadeloupe, and Zimbabwe, that reflect the depth of the Captain’s crates and his skills behind the boards. “Mystery Trip” is not just a DJ mix nor a collection of simple edits but rather an entirely new piece of work from C.P. - a love letter  to the funky sounds of our planet and the rare vinyl it hides in dusty junk shops, back alleyways, basements and attics.
 
Each limited-edition “Mystery Trip” Cassette tape comes with a free digital download of separated tracks/edits, along with the full digi-mix. As an added bonus, Captain Planet is hand-painting an exclusive batch of Walkmen with his own one-of-a-kind designs, which will be available as a premium pack with the tape at the Bastard Jazz store. "Work Ethic Mixtape"として知られていたこの作品は、完成されてる曲もあれば完成されてないレアなラフ音源まで、2006年以前にJoe StylesがBudamunkやDibiaseの家などでレコーディングでしてきた音源集である。
ほとんどがJoe Styles本人のビートのものだが、Budamunk, Dibiase, N/A, Laidlaw, Emphasisなどもプロダクションで参加している。10年前の作品"Melodical era"にも参加していた従兄弟のSoulやOYGやChali 2naの弟のLaidlawなども率いる自信のクルーSoul JugglerzのMCたちなどが参加している。
Joe StylesはロスアンゼルスのMCで10代の半ば頃からLailawなどと活動をはじめ、2002年にソロアルバム"Melodical Era"をリリース。後にKeentokers, Soul Jugglerzとして活動を始める。2009年にBudamunkと2004年頃に録ったアルバム"Budastyles Classics"をJazzy Sportからリリース。Green Butterのアルバム"Get Mad Relax"にも参加している。

These recordings on this particular project were once known as the "Work Ethic Mixtape". These songs, mostly Joe Style productions, and a few bangers from Budamunk, Dibiase, N/A, Laid Law, and Emphasis, some complete, some incomplete, and a few left alone-were constructed @budamunk's fonk house, Dibiase's Lab, and at the Soul Jugglerz Dusty Dungeon. They were gathered from numerous studio sessions, mostly the year of 2006, with some dating back early as 2003. All the tracks were compiled onto a compact disc and given to Joe Styles Keentoker brethren Budamunk. It was only for friends to listen to, but one day while Budamunk was blowing on some Bomb Tree, he thought it'd be dope for the world to hear. So if you have these special collection of songs, please roll up the Green and get Elevated to the music.......we now offer you "Elevation Music"

Pragmatic Theory Presents - The Soul Sessions *Preview* (FREE ALBUM D/L LINK IN DESCRIPTION)

Ypsilanti, Michigan’s own golden child, Kendall Tucker, bka 14KT, is a multi-talented Artist/Producer/DJ. His musical roots came from growing up singing in the church choir. It was there and by studying his parent’s jazz and soul records, along with piano and upright bass lessons, Kendall learned the fundamentals of music.

14KT got his start as 1/7th of this mighty Hip-hop collective, The Athletic Mic League. He started out as an emcee, inspired by the sounds of Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest and Outkast. Finding it hard to get instrumental beats, KT started using the “Pause/Play/Record” method, by looping breaks on cassette tapes so the crew could rap over them. 

14KT’s solo career began in 2008. After a rich history with AML, he entered and won his first beat battle competition, in Red Bull Big Tune Detroit. Later that year, he released his debut instrumental LP, “The Golden Hour [Soundtrack].” The Golden Hour made its mark appearing on many year-end “top albums” lists. Okayplayer said “this is the sort of striking project that can singlehandedly create an artists following.” And so it did.

14KT is the last Big Tune national champion, which he went on to win in 2010.
He’s worked with the likes of Aloe Blacc, Black Milk, Bun B, Danny Brown, Elzhi, Jay Electronica, JMSN, Masta Ace, Mayer Hawthorne, Legendary Motown Funk Brothers guitarist Dennis Coffey and many others. His music was featured in the DVD for Michael Rapaport’s A Tribe Called Quest documentary, “Beats, Rhymes, & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest.” Live, he’s rocked with the Stones Throw crew, at Low End Theory, SXSW, on tour with Mayer Hawthorne, Slum Village, and across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia.

To date, 14KT has released seven solo albums, as well as his collaborative Hip-hop album, "Takin Ls" with emcee Ozay Moore,  R&B/Soul album, “Saturn Return” with singer/songwriter AB, and “The Big Knock”, together with Mayer Hawthorne as the “Beat Wave” group Jaded Incorporated [Universal Republic/Casablanca Records]. Jaded Incorporated was born out of their mutual adoration for the Post-Punk and New Wave music of the early 1980′s, and Ghettotech music in the 90′s Detroit scene.

14KT is currently revving up to release another duo collaboration album with Michigan rapper Ro Spit, entitled "RSXGLD" to be released in 2017.
