With SIAMESE020 we have come full circle. Shiffer, our good friend, Siamese family member and co-graphic designer with Adrian Schweizer since almost day one, has created his most personal release to date. This EP has been recorded during a challenging time in his life and reflects the journey through profound variations of human emotions. Remembering his very first production 'Drunk on Hope' on our initial Anthology release, we’re proud to see how Patrik's music evolved into such a genre-spanning array.

The title track 'Black Ballad' illustrates the proverbial tunnel but also the light at the end of it. For us this opener hits the spot right where tears of sadness and joy meet. It's filled with Shiffer's uncompromising grooves and basslines, gently touched by a sublime melody.

'Her, Endlessly' and 'A Deeper Understanding' are two beautifully crafted tracks we love to play during longer sets. They perfectly lead the crowd into a state of mutual trust and sincerity. 'Her, Endlessly' is more on the house and instrumental side of the spectrum, while 'A Deeper Understanding' is a bit darker, moodier and more trippy.

'Memento' is almost industrial sounding, heavy and yet hopeful, possibly even resembling early Burial releases, so creative and powerful. I remember Adrian Schweizer telling me to drop everything and that I should listen to this immediately. Five minutes later this track has been signed.

When it comes to music I personally enjoy the most, 'Moorgarten' is right up there, an unexpected composition with a familiar vibe. This track actually motivated me to do a whole playlist of this kind of music - trip-hop at its finest. You could even argue this pays tribute to some of the great hip-hop instrumentals from the 90s. Listen to some of these and you know where I am coming from.

All in all a diverse, unique and very promising record that opens up a new chapter in Shiffer's musical path and lead him anywhere he wants to be.

Italian duo Agents Of Time have been incredibly busy over the past few years, from releasing a string of classic singles – including their recent single for Afterlife, “The Mirage”, which earned more than five million views on Instagram – to remixing The Weeknd’s “Take My Breath”, which appeared on his recent Dawn FM (Alternative World). But the biggest news is here now – their second album, Universo, is ready. Elevating their trademark melodic techno with an exquisite pop-ness, Universo has found its ideal home with Kompakt, following their Music Made Paradise 2020 debut EP for the label. It’s a meeting of minds that makes perfect sense.

Andrea Di Ceglie and Luigi Tutolo, the two members of Agents Of Time, used their time during the pandemic to work on Universo, an album loosely conceptualised around their ‘personal universo’, a manifestation of the world Di Ceglie and Tutolo built both within and around their studio. This accounts for the sparkle and brightness of Universo – it’s full of personality, vim and vigour, the duo experimenting with their music, exploring its furthest corners. If you come to Universo expecting just another album of melodic techno, get ready to be pleasantly surprised – there’s a whole lot more going on here, and it’s all equally compelling.

After a typically poetic opening gesture – the swirling, synaesthetic, self-titled intro track – expectations are immediately blindsided with the two-step pop of “Fallin’”, sung with gentle clarity by guest Audrey Janssens, a dream of a song that harks back to the glory days of early ‘00s UK garage. “Interstellar Cowboy” is a confident, lithe, disco-fied strut; the gentle minor-key piano of “Liquid Fantasy” spirals into a gorgeously melancholy techno-pop epic, Vicky Who?’s voice rich with yearning. Janssens also reappears on the electro-swirl of “Poison”; “Dream Vision” revisits their single “The Mirage”, soft with sweeping strings, loaded with drama; “Part Of Life” sashays into view with a schaffel-stomp.

This rich variety throws the more dancefloor-focused tracks, like “Ciao”, into even starker relief – they’re more decisive, streamlined, yet rich with detail, chugging, Moroder-esque bass meeting strobe-lit synths that fire melodies out into the firmament. Universo feels texturally dense, but it still breathes, its sounds so tactile you want to reach out and grab them, its tunes so seductive you can’t get them out of your head. Universo is a fiercely beautiful album, brave in its spirit, a perfectly poised meeting-point of pop melody and stylish, lush techno: Agents Of Time in excelsis.

Dimitri Nakov is clocking releases on Saved, Bedrock and Selador amongst others, co-creator and resident of legendary Never Say Never at Ushuaia and the weekly Sunset Ashram Ibiza, this talented French producer and DJ is on the up.

BVision hails from Brazil, and his work has graced Superfreq, Selador and Tulipa, and his fan base includes Marco Carola, Mr. C and Stefano Noferini.

The artists have similar tastes yet different at the same time, delivering a musical yin and yang effect, and Sudbeat proudly welcomes these forward thing producers.

The title track 'Paradiso' as the titles suggests is a warm beautiful affair, with its layers gelling effortlessly. The pairings deep yet warm sounds merge as the dark bass meets the luscious arp. 
Cool fx and squelches grace this gem, as the breakdown lands creating a dance floor moment and a half. This is deep and deadly and packs a mean punch.

We are off to 'Eldorado' next, and its a percussive deep swung grooved affair that greets us. Warm blippy melodics tinkle over the swaggering techie workout, and subtle low end adds character and an air of sophistication. Subtleness is the key here, as its aura develops and puts you under its spell.

Rounding things off nicely, we have 'Second Sun' with its infectious arp directing us along. A hypnotic soundscape graces us, as ethereal vocals lace this super cool track. Its all about the vibe here as movements along this voyage take us on twists and turns, before the breakdown lets the arp really shine, and then clever use as it kicks back in. Fresh!
