Panorama Bar regular Bwana unites his dual loves of vintage ‘90s electro and classic progressive trance on this three track EP for Dusky’s 17 Steps label.

Achieving widespread critical acclaim with last year’s techno homage to the Akira soundtrack - ‘Capsules Pride’ - on LuckyMe, Bwana has since released EPs on his club ready home Aus and Fort Romeau’s Cin Cin, as well as appearing on 17 Steps with a cult remix of Dusky’s ‘Ingrid Is a Hybrid’ - itself something of a Panorama Bar favourite.

On this EP, the illustrious producer presents three contrasting but cohesive tracks in the dark acidic ‘Three Way Is The Hard Way’, hypnotic dark trance builder ’Hell Is Other Robots’ and classic electro homage ‘On Patrol For Their Control’.

Completing the package, the inimitable Avalon Emerson bends ‘Three Way Is The Hard Way’ into a glitchy, percussive groover that builds crunchy layers of dark drums around the original’s twisted sonics.

New Album Set for Release in Early 2016 
Following the massive success of “Bugatti” and his first string of live performances, Tiga is preparing to release his first album since 2009’s Ciao! early next year on Counter Records (a Ninja Tune imprint). “It’s a natural fit - I’m the original Counter. I count RESULTS. Advantage: Tiga City,” says Tiga.

“Seven years is a lifetime, especially for lifetime full-time dreamers like me. Entire fantasy worlds have been loved and lost. Restaurants have opened and closed. I’ve taken the spiritual advice of those closest to me and chosen to remain inside the present, listening and growing until there’s no choice to spring out of the box and share my gift. And that gift is the simplest of questions and answers. What is love? It is what it is, and what it is is it’s everything."

Tiga to Play First Live London Show at KOKO
On November 21st, Tiga will bring his acclaimed “Tiga Live” show to KOKO, marking the first time the Montreal entertainer has treated London fans to his unique blend of cutting-edge set design, soaring vocals and Jori Hulkkonen.

“London is incredibly important to me. It’s where I first heard The Beatles, and they also make very good dance music there,” says Tiga. “After conquering the festival circuit, I’m beyond jazzed to sing and dance in a club setting. The restroom lines are much shorter, which I think will make the set noticeably tighter in terms of costume changes."

New Single “Don’t Break My Heart” Out November 21

Co-produced by Clarian North (ex-Footprintz), “Don’t Break My Heart” has already staked its place as the emotional climax of Tiga’s already climax-heavy live show.

“The same world that has given me everything breaks my heart every day-ay. But if that’s the price I have to pay-ay, I wouldn’t have it any other way-ay. I can’t stop singing everything I say-ay.” says an exhausted Tiga, tears of song-sweat streaming down his natural singer’s face.

Janson modestly replied, “(I’m) Flattered to be asked by the one only Tiga to lay hands on him and his voice, while being unable to supersede his original, the remix efforts resulted in an "acid dub" that tries to toughen things up. This month marks the return of Steyoyoke veteran Dahu to the label; ever-evolving, subby and percussive, Dahu's 5th EP 'Hesia' sees him pulling out all his signature stops, from ultra low frequency kicks to melancholic synths drenched in warmth. The EP features two original tracks, 'Hesia' and 'From Whence We Came'.

'Hesia' is an exercise in minimalism, developing subtlely until culminating in a ferocious drop layered with resonating mids, a few well chosen percussive elements and a gut pounding kick meant to be felt as well as heard. A heart wrenching lead and bassy resonators combine to hover over the track, dousing it with emotion.

'From Whence We Came' features a complex percussive groove plowing relentlessly forward. The sub-laden kick drum barely lets the listener come up for air, while the lead plays an enticing repetitive mantra, transporting the track into an unexpectedly melancholic dimension, and forging an instant afterhours classic.

As a long term Steyoyoke artist, Dahu has forged his own sound within the sphere of Ethereal Techno. Building on his reputation for sub-heavy melancholia, the 'Hesia' EP showcases old and new aspects of the German producer's unique sound alike.

Following the mega-hit “Let’s Go Dancing” and the micro-hit “Fever,” Nightclub marks the third release from techno truth-tellers Tiga vs. Audion. To announce the EP, Tiga recently gave a lengthy audio press conference while driving a Turbo company car all the way down to City Hall. A partial transcript follows:

ON THE INSPIRATION

“Living in contemporary society? It’s a joke. But what’s no joke is that rough times call for rough customers, and this EP finds two top techno producers in the mood for ballsiness, reflecting the times with a harder-edged sound, harder-edged artwork, and harder-edged calls for our leaders to remember that the dance floor was built on unity, plurality, and unshacklable animality.”

ON THE TRACK TITLES

“After careful study, we came to the conclusion that the worse the titles, the more ‘techno’ the tracks. A-side ‘Stabbed in the Back’ takes its name from the fact that the track has keyboard stabs in it. Maybe my least favourite title of anything I’ve ever done, which is remarkable considering the runner-up was an unreleased stab-free track called ‘Doctors Without Keyboards.’ ‘Pink Bells’ was originally called ‘The Bells’ but I was told that this guy Geoff had already used it. ‘Nonstop’ got its name from the fact that I was really on a roll with bad titles at the time.”

ON THE CREATIVE PROCESS

“It’s extremely challenging to make instrumental techno with enough of a hook and enough of a funk to stand out, and it’s exponentially more difficult when I know deep down I could make everything alright so easily with just the sound of my voice. We bought a set of Bryan Adams Studio Flash Cards, which instructed us to make the kind of hyper-utilitarian dance tracks we could play in our own DJ sets. Sometimes, even musicians need to be reminded to put themselves first.”

​As Sian gets ready to release his second album ‘Capital Crimewave’ on April 10, the Octopus Recordings label boss sat down with Mixmag to discuss the vision behind the new material, his thoughts on the dance music industry and share a free download of the album’s bonus track.

Following the release of his debut album in 2002, Sian has released numerous dancefloor focused tracks, but has not returned to the album format. The new material is a departure from what many listeners have grown accustomed to and offers a new look at his unique approach to production.

As the new material stands out from the label’s catalogue, Sian revealed that he hopes to reach new fans and give existing ones a new side to his persona: “That’s how I see it going already from promoting this music over the last few weeks. The kind of people that are coming to us are the kind of people who would maybe also listen to Bonobo or Modeselektor. Or just good music in general, not so specific.”
