I'm relatively new to the "Electronic" scene being an aMERICAN :-() and all. My musical taste started as almost purely 90's rock, being the music my parents raised me on and all. Then 20+ years after my birth friends introduce me to Dubstep and my life changes (not changed but changes). It's been YEARS since the "invention, conception, etc." of Dubstep, and it's definition has become  debatable at this point but one fact remains; It and it's predecessors (DnB, drumstep, "house", etc.) are the new wave of music {period} So what began as simply beating on something (a drum was the first historically documented instrument) evolved into TONE, which lead to HARMONY & MELODY and those two aspects of music dominate(d) the western perspective of music and still will for years to come as far as musical literature is concerned. However, the new wave(s) are most distinguishable through their rhythmic/time differences. Although this new wave is not nearly as complicated as even ancient African or Asian rhythmic compositions the combination of these newly popular rhythmic patterns with sub bass and other previously inaccessible sounds has opened the doors to yet another level of possible emotional experiences directly linked to music as we now know it. I can only hope to take full advantage of the era we live in as a human first, a fan second, and an aspiring artist.
