From its origins having grown from a settlement house music program into its current incarnation as a leading international conservatory, Manhattan School of Music has upheld a century-long tradition of excellence in music education and performance. Throughout the 2018–19 academic year, this tradition was on full display as MSM celebrated its landmark Centennial season with a series of performances and unique events marking 100 years of excellence. These included a four-concert Opening Day festival; a spring Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall; and, most significantly, a concert hailing the November reopening of a fully renovated Neidorff-Karpati Hall and unveiling of a grand new campus entrance and lobby.

This milestone student performance season, which included several special appearances by distinguished alumni and faculty, was also celebrated with concerts that highlighted works composed by noted alumni; works that had their first performances at MSM; and celebrated pieces written and/or premiered around the time of the School’s founding.
