You may have come across John over lockdown if you saw the excellent short Netflix film, ‘John was trying to contact Aliens’. If you haven’t seen it we definitely recommend checking it out.

Long story short, and it is a long story indeed spanning over three decades, John learnt how to build powerful high voltage transmitters that could broadcast radio signals into space. He then set up a DJ studio and played music over the rig with the hope that someone out there was listening.

The name for the project was S.T.R.A.T, which stood for Special Telemetry Research and Tracking and the radio shows were broadcast from Earth Station One.

John Shepherd had become the world’s first cosmic DJ.

For his entry into our podcast series, Luke delivers a meticulously crafted showcase of his deeper, more hypnotic side. There's much to discover here, from the beautiful blends to the little details in the selections. Another great back to back session with Malte aka @@caldera-caldera, we always find a way to make things flow effortlessly and for our music to gel into an enjoyable adventure through electronic sounds, I really like his taste in music and his new EP on @nummer is killer - definitely one to check! (I’ll be stocking at Temple of Vinyl).
